Amazon makes my life so much easier

Amazon makes my life so much easier!

Amazon, how do I love thee?  Let me count the ways!

1.  Amazon codes are among my favorite gifts to send to friends and family. For one thing, it’s so quick and easy to send an (affiliate links) Amazon Gift Card via email. The gift code lands in my friend’s inbox within seconds and she can start shopping! When I get an Amazon gift card, I usually stash it away to save for later….but it doesn’t last long.

2.  That’s because I love my Kindle Reading App and use it all the time to download freebies and inexpensive ebooks.  I have Prime so I can even borrow books each month for free.  The nice thing is….no returning the books!  I’ve spent a pretty penny on library overdue fees, so the ebook thing works for me in that respect.  If you’re more of an audiobook person, you can enjoy a free trial of Audible and Get Two Free Audiobooks.  I downloaded my free books and cancelled without a problem.  [Read more…]

Wear your video game on your sleeve – Skylanders and Minecraft

After days of being cooped up in the house due to snow and extremely low temperatures, my kids were ready to tear down the walls.  We had popped enough popcorn to fill a room, rented several movies from Amazon, and played board games.  It was time to break out the big guns.

Book review – Betting on Hope by Debra Clopton

We love watching The Pioneer Woman on Food Network. Her recipes are always mouth-watering and tempting, but that’s not all.  The little scenes with the cowboys are always intriguing!  We are located in the mountains of Tennessee where you don’t see many ranchers.  You might come across a field with horses or possibly a dairy farm, but an authentic ranch is uncommon.  There’s something so rugged and fierce about a guy in his chaps; cowboys make the perfect book characters for those days when you just want to melt into another world.  In Betting on Hope, author Debra Clopton delivers a clean romance that makes you want to giddy-up.

What’s on your Amazon wishlist these days?

Disclosure: This post contains my affiliate link, which pays for self-sponsored giveaways like this one.

I have a bad habit.  Every time I read a book review that makes my eyes light up, I want to put that book on my wishlist.  The problem here is that I read a lot of blogs with a lot of good book reviews.  Therefore, my wishlist is ever so long.  There aren’t enough hours in the day to read all the books on said wishlist, but every once in a while I treat myself to something from that never-ending line of pages.  What’s on your Amazon wishlist?    [Read more…]

February was a surprise here in Northeast Tennessee. Although we expect a little bit of snow sometime during the winter, we weren’t ready for 2 straight weeks of snowfall! When the temperatures finally rose above windchill-zero, we went outside to play. Knowing the kids wouldn’t be ready to come inside for a snack, I took some Honey Bunches of Oats Breakfast Biscuits outside with us. They ended up being a fun part of our morning!   [Read more…]

Lucado Treasury of Prayers book review

Disclosure: I received this book to review. The post contains affiliate links. Opinions shared here are 100% mine.

The Lucado Treasury of Bedtime Prayers has a 5-star rating on Amazon for good reason!  This beautiful hardcover book is a wonderful way to spend a few minutes with your precious child at the end of a long day.  Max Lucado’s trademark gift for words is present throughout this book, with gentle illustrations to go along with the spiritual imagery.  While this would seem to be a collection of bedtime prayers, it’s really appropriate to enjoy throughout the day.  Children will enjoy the fun bouncy prayers as much as they nod off to the quieter, serious messages.  Scripture is a prevalent part of the pages as well.  Although many books get passed on from our home to other libraries, the Lucado Treasury of Bedtime Prayers is one book that we’ll keep for always.

Rainbows signify God’s love to me, based on the story of Noah from Genesis.  When I see a rainbow, I’m reminded of God’s amazing love for his children.  Being a Christian has led to wonderful things in my life; it also made it possible for me to meet a spectacular network of Family Christian bloggers. I’ve been blessed to receive a few Family Christian appreciation certificates over the past few weeks, and would love to share the happiness with you.  You’ll find so many Easter gift ideas and home decor items at Family Christian; don’t feel as if you’re limited to only books!  One lucky reader will receive a $10 Family Christian appreciation certificate — I hope that as you enjoy it, you remember that God loves you unconditionally!  That’s better than any treasure.

Some might have said that Esther was lucky.

Born as a Jewish girl and raised by her cousins, she was neither affluent nor likely to change the world.  When she was chosen to be one of the king’s women, many might have considered this the moment she’d been waiting for.  But God had other plans.

You’ve never heard Esther’s story like this before!  [Read more…]
