It’s no big secret that I looooove having a variety of labels for my kids. Not only do the labels save me time and money, the sanity I save is completely worth it. Some of my new favorites are the tags because they can attach to zipper pulls and gym bags, making it super easy to spot the ID and find the lucky owner. Did you know that Mabel’s Labels now has loot bag options? You can get a sample of their products for the guests at your child’s birthday party. I think that’s such a great idea….and a really fun way to ID the goody bags so the kids don’t ask you a zillion times which one belongs to them! [Read more…]

Snowing today and 70 degree temps next week? Welcome to the crazy weather of East Tennessee. It’s delightfully predictable how unpredictable it can be. In the past three days, I’ve seen clusters of daffodils (mine still haven’t bloomed) and sweet crocuses popping up from their sleepy beds, so I know spring is a’coming. That means it’s time to think about some fun clothing to celebrate the sunshine! [Read more…]
I really like series books. I mean, really really like them. And Shattered is a great example of WHY I’m such a fan of series novels. When I received this book to review, the cover immediately struck me as suspenseful. The depth of the character development is so wonderful in a series. The story doesn’t have to end with the last page of the book, you see. When I read, I completely immerse myself in the book. It’s crazy how oblivious I become to the world around me when I’m engrossed in a good novel. That’s how I felt with Shattered—and I haven’t even read the first book. Maybe it’s the way that Landon and Piper’s relationship grows. Maybe it’s the mystery that unravels throughout the entire book. Or maybe it’s just the inspired writing style, the way the words gripped me and I could hear them in my mind. I don’t know what it was, but I definitely look forward to reading more from Dani Pettrey.
In Shattered, the Biblical references seemed so natural. For example, when the characters prayed, it was at an appropriate time without feeling forced. I could relate to the feelings that were going on with the story. Even those who aren’t fans of religious fiction would enjoy this story, I think. Romance fans would adore it. Mystery fans? Definitely. This is a book that offers a wide appeal to many audiences.
I participated in the book tour for Shattered.

Words move me. They always have, and I can remember the first time I read the book of Job in the Bible and felt complete sorrow for that poor man. I was 4 years old and pronounced his name “Job” instead of “Jobe.” I’ve always felt the power of the written word. Maybe that’s partly why I became a teacher; I really want to help my students understand the impact of the written language. It’s also amazing to me how words can be transformed into artwork. Yes, literature is beautiful, but Arttextry has taken that idea to the next level.
