When we travel, I like to purchase specialty foods to take home with me.  One one Italian restaurant we visited in Williamsburg sold imported pasta that made fantastic pasta salad.  When I received this package from Tuscanini, that’s what was on my mind!

I was especially happy to see tomato paste in a resealable tube.  When a recipe calls for tomato paste, it’s usually such a small amount.  I freeze what’s left, but knowing that it can simply be squeezed from a tube means a time saver!

Tuscanini carries more than pasta and tomato paste.  You can also find their balsamic vinegar, sauces, and organic sparkling beverages.  They’re known for their pizza, so check your grocery store’s freezer to see if you can snag some.  I was able to find some of their products on Amazon, so you can also check there for convenience.  Don’t forget to follow Tuscanini on Twitter and Instagram for a visual treat!

We’ve had a crazy February.  My husband had surgery twice this month, and the kids were sick with flu, strep, and a stomach bug.  On Saturday, we had flooding in our area.  Our house was in the path of some serious water, so we evacuated for the night.  Thankfully the water just missed our house!  In all of this action, there just wasn’t time to go to the store.  Tonight I pulled together dinner from our freezer and pantry.  The fusilli made a colorful addition to the meal, and was so simple to prepare!  I just added some butter and shaved parmesan.  Delicious!  I served the pasta with brown sugar glazed salmon and roasted brussel sprouts.
