The Favorite Daughter was not my favorite book. If you want to know more, read on.

I enjoyed Best Day Ever by the same author (Kaira Rouda) and was looking forward to reading The Favorite Daughter.

I actually stopped reading The Favorite Daughter after the second or third chapter and checked the Goodreads reviews to see if it got any better. Since it had so many 4- and 5-star ratings, I thought there must be some amazing momentum later in the book. Oh goodness, I should have stopped reading it. The only thing that kept me entertained was the vision in my mind’s eye. I could see Jane bowing, flirting, and tottering around on 4-inch heels when everyone else was wearing flip flops.

The story had some interesting potential, but it was almost entirely wrapped in the narrator’s droning tone. Her narcissism became tediously comical after a while, then it was just straight up tiresome.

For me, this one was just….not good. I gave it 2 stars because I think it could have been a strong story.

Check this out….
