Easter is such a special time of year for my family. It’s fun to hide the eggs, eat chocolate bunnies, and fill the baskets. But more importantly, our family celebrates the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. We watched The Legend of the Three Trees DVD (from Tommy Nelson) and enjoyed the reminder that God has a special plan for each one of us. The video has beautiful artistry and the instrumental music is spectacular. The story might be lost on younger children, since Jesus is only mentioned in passing. The focus is on the way the trees dreamed of their futures, yet God had a different plan that worked toward a higher glory. A beautiful way to supplement this DVD is to plant a tree with your child. Our family’s Easter tradition started this year; we dyed Easter eggs the night before and then hid them in the yard for the kids to find. The kids are only one and two so it was a great family Easter 🙂

Teaching your children they have a special purpose is such a great thing. I love Tommy Nelson’s books for this reason. I try to instill in them that everyone is given a certain gift and it’s their job to discover who they are to be.

We always dye eggs, go to church in the outfits that Grandma and Grandpa, (US) have gotten the boys and have an Easter Egg Hunt. We also discuss what the season is about as soon as they are old enough to understand it at least a little bit.
