Top 100 Classic Radio Shows from the Portable Press Store brings back this fabulous genre with colorful, glossy pages and a CD sampler. You’ve probably heard of War of the Worlds and maybe even The Shadow. This book is full of fun facts and legendary stories regarding shows like this. I was especially interested in learning about the on-air talent behind these shows. I knew little about any of the shows, so the general overview information was very helpful as background.
I can’t wait to send The Top 100 Classic Radio Shows book and CD set to my grandmother. I know she will enjoy listening to her old favorites from her teenage years! The 3 CDs include samples from the shows. More shows are available online for download. It’s a fun way to introduce the kids to a bygone era. Try listening to these radio shows on a road trip or during a snow day, when the kids are likely to enjoy hearing something new.

I love old-time radio, especially Fanny Brice as Baby Snookums. I don’t know if she’s featured here, but I’m sure this is great stuff!

Loved listening to the old radio shows, especially Burns and Allen – one of the local stations would run them on Sunday afternoons when I was a kid.
