Disclosure: I received a free book from the publisher. Opinions shared are mine.

Kelly Irvin is known for flipping tables on traditional Amish fiction.  Her books often take place in unusual settings, or they’re based on unconventional characters.  Through the Autumn Air brings in an older woman as a main character.  It was a brilliant choice, making this book stand out against the rest of the Amish fiction stories out there.

There are many unexpected situations in this book!   I loved the idea of a widow starting a second life as a business woman and maybe a wife for the second time.  Mary Katherine’s prickly personality wasn’t always charming, but she had a heart of gold.  It frustrated me that the people in her life, especially her oldest son, treated her like she was an invalid.  Maybe that’s just the way of things in the Amish world, but it was disrespectful and unkind.

Through the Autumn Air brings about many questions that any reader could relate to.  What would you give up for love?  How does a person move on after a deep tragedy?

Kelly Irvin’s books are some of my favorite in Amish fiction, so I’d definitely like to read the other books in the Every Amish Season series.

Many thanks to Book Look Bloggers for sending me this book.
