Thrifty Thursday: Ordering checks that do the trick for less

Every week I forget to write the check for the church offering and have to do it in the middle of the service.  Usually I remember when it’s the quiet time after communion.  It seems like the sound of my check tearing off the top is magnified times 100!   For that reason alone, these  side-tear checks are calling my name.  With about half of the tear space, it will make me cringe just a little bit less, I think.

My final thought on check writing is that I feel like there’s a bit of personal protection with checks.  Although using cash has become more of a habit for me since we started the Dave Ramsey program, I use checks as documentation for payment on services rendered.  It’s so easy to go back to my online account, find the cancelled check, and offer it as evidence of payment if there’s ever an issue.   What are your thoughts on writing checks versus other forms of payments?  How do you save money on ordering checks, if you do?
