This month’s make-up — my favorites!

This month’s make-up has been really fun to try.  In the summer I really pare down my style.  If you see me at the grocery store, you’ll probably be shocked at my beach bum look.  There’s very little make-up going on, with minimal effort on my hair, and the t-shirt/shorts combo does nothing for the overall appeal.  Oh well, that’s how I make summer relaxing.  In the reality, I do take a little more time on my skincare routine in the summer.  For one thing, we’re outside all the time so I have to remember to use sunscreen regularly.  Also, my skin gets super oily in the summer (yuck) and it takes extra product to keep it from being disgusting.    As I’ve aged, my pores have really started to show up.  My dad always had gigantic crater-pores and, hooray for me, I seem to have inherited that trait as well.

Juara blemish-free mask is a MUST HAVE for me in the summer. savingsinseconds.com

From now on, the anti-blemish and all-natural Rose & Willowbark Blemish-Free Mask from JUARA is a must for me.  It was my first choice because it is suited for blemish-prone, oily/combination skin types.  While I don’t suffer from breakouts very often (anymore…..I did as a teen for sure) the potential is always there if I don’t stay on top of my skincare routine.  The mask is a really odd color, almost the rosy-purple shade of a blueberry smoothie.  Therefore I was very careful to wear an old shirt when I used it just in case it would stain.  The product went on very smooth and wasn’t cakey like other masks that I’ve used.  In fact, it was surprisingly smooth once it dried.  There were little gritty bits in it while it was wet but those smoothed out, too.  The mask was instantly cooling and refreshing on my skin.  I loved the way it felt.  Although the bottle warned that there might be some tingling action, I never noticed it.   After about 15 minutes I wiped off the mask with a warm wet washcloth.  My skin was so smooth and clean, it felt like I was 15 years younger.  Wow!!  It still felt that way after my shower so I know that it was effective for me.  There was a noticeable difference in the tightening of my pores too; they just didn’t stand out as much.  Hopefully after more frequent mask treatments the results will be even more dramatic.  I’m definitely going to use this product 2-3 times per week, especially in the summer, to keep my skin toned.  The tube costs $35 but since I only used a little bit of it I’m sure it will last for a while.  I’d really like to try more Juara products.

Check out my favorites from this month's BeautyBox5 -- savingsinseconds.com

This month’s Beauty Box 5 has been my favorite yet.  When I received my box, I immediately noticed the Aveeno sunscreen that I’ve been wanting to try.  As a bonus, there was a coupon for it, too!  I’m really excited about this because I tend to forget my own sunscreen (once my kids are slathered, it’s time to head outside, so there’s no time for mine.)  This way, I can just apply the Aveeno as a regular moisturizer and save myself some steps.  Love that!!   The sample size is big enough that it will last for several applications, too.  Score!   The box also contained a body bronzer (not something I’ll use) and a good sample of Brazen eyeshadow.  It’s a darker shade than I would normally wear but it will be perfect to brush on the brow bone for a bit of glam.

My favorite pick of the box was the Cool Way shampoo and conditioner sample.  The formulation is free from sulfates, phalates, and parabens.  Normally I am not very pleased with sulfate-free shampoo because it just doesn’t seem to clean as well as the more toxic kinds.  Darned if I do, darned if I don’t.  Well, not with Cool Way.  The shampoo was really thick and smelled awesome, kind of like lemon balm.  It got all sudsy just like regular shampoo and I loved the way it cleaned.  The conditioner was equally as fab.  It was super thick and felt like I was smoothing body butter on my hair.  But it provided some serious moisture that lasted even after I blow dried my hair.   Since it’s free of all those nasty chemicals, I can feel safe using it on my kids, too, so no need to buy two different shampoos (which I’m currently doing.)    I am DEFINITELY buying some of this shampoo/conditioner.  If it hadn’t come in my Beauty Box, I would never have known about this brand so cheer for BeautyBox5!!!

I love this subscription because it consistently gives me something I’ll use each month.  This month was probably the best so far, and that’s saying something because there have been some really good items in my box!!   At only $12 a month, it’s a real bargain for getting some small treats on a regular basis.  Sign up for Beauty Box 5!

I love the Juara brand, and I’d love to try their blemish mask. My pores seem to open in the summer, when I sweat more, and get so clogged. I have no trouble with blemishes any other time of year. Boo!
