There once was a girl who had a candy crush

There once was a girl who never got on Facebook. Then the girl’s friends said, ooooh try the games. You must try the games. They are really fun. Secretly the girl thought that playing the games seemed kind of silly. After all, aren’t there more productive things to do with her already limited free time? But to humor her friends, the girl tried the games. The girl got started and couldn’t stop playing Candy Crush. It was almost like that time the girl started playing solitaire on the computer and couldn’t stop until she won. Except this was worse.

The problem this time was, the girl could see what level her friends were playing on the game. She wanted to be there, too. So she played more and more in order to catch up. She even paid good money for extra lives because she wouldn’t patiently wait for the lives to be renewed.  She shooed her children away like flies when they asked to be fed dinner.  Hours whiled away, seeming like minutes, while the girl laid on the couch and played her little fingers raw.

Just when the girl thought she could handle this new obsession, her friend remarked that she is on level 124. A whole hundred levels more?! The girl stayed up until the wee hours of the morning trying to conquer the game. She even dreamt about the game, seeing striped candies in her sleep. Realizing that she got in over her head with this thing, she decided to back off.   She waved the white flag of surrender, hoping to reclaim some semblance of normal life.  Then she heard about Bejeweled Blitz. Uh oh.

PS.  She is stuck on level 33 if anyone has any tips.

Yes, first comes Farmville then Candy Crush and now there are many many more. For me, it isn’t the games but the people. Facebook…I didn’t need, want, or care….until my daughter-in-law started posting grandkids photos. Now, she’s on a lot with little tidbits throughout the day, and my daughter and I are right there ready to log in and check in with them. While there, we have even found new friends and liked businesses for deals. Yes, I’m just being a good grandma right? 🙂

Enjoy the games but try to get some sleep.

  2. Hahaha, I know what you mean, but I have evaded candy Crush thus far, thankfully. I do know someone over 100, but 124 is high!

  3. I’ve heard it’s very addictive. I’ve not played….

  4. I have avoided all FB games because I know I will get sucked in. I think it’s admirable that you went cold turkey!

  5. Ha Ha. I am on level 97. I never play games. … except this one!

  6. I have purposely never played any of these games because I know I would be in the same situation! Now to get a handle on Pinterest…

  7. Yes, it is HIGHLY addictive!! My obsessions are Candy Crush and Sims Freeplay. They do suck you in. I have now had to set up rules for myself…no playing until work is done! 🙂 I am stuck on level 23 (I’m more of a newbie). Great, I had to open up the game to double check what level I am on. oh, oh

  8. Candy Crush is too addictive, lol. Many times I’ve shirked my duties for that game!!

  9. I never tried it!! I am afraid I will become addicted!
