It’s been a great year for books! This weekend, I was completely absorbed in The Whisper Man by Alex North. This book was equal parts chiller and thriller. Constantly turning the pages to see what would happen next, I couldn’t put it down. This story even reminded me a bit of Nightmare on Elm Street with its catchy, creepy rhyme. Don’t leave your door half-open!

One thing that struck me about The Whisper Man was the switch between first- and third-person narrative. I wouldn’t have thought I’d like it, but it really helped me to see the story from various viewpoints while focusing on Tom, one of the main characters.

The story also looped about and around, creating a confusing web, yet still connected in the end. I really liked seeing how the mystery unraveled.

We do a lot of waiting around on football nights, so my Kindle app will be getting a lot of use. I’m looking forward to reading The Yellow Lantern next. Thankfully, US Gift Giant sent me this certified iPhone and iPad charger to make sure my phone stays charged up! You can get one here:

  1. You have peaked my interest! When I hear things like leaving doors or windows open or unlocked, I cringe, because the world isn’t as safe as when I was growing up! I fear for my grandkids and others safety’s! Even though I am concerned about these things, I still LOVE a great mystery or thriller! I know that the writings are just a group of ideas collected from an author’s imagination. What makes me upset is that my eyesight is getting worse, because of my Diabetes!! I am by myself a lot and love to enjoy a good book ? Thank you for sharing!

  2. The title and cover art already make this book one I want to read. Sounds so compelling

  3. Sounds like a good book to welcome the fall season. Halloween is near, and chilling stories will definitely bring light to the mood.
