Savings for a fun day at The Island in Pigeon Forge, TN #TheIslandPF

So, when we got discounted tickets for the 7D ride at The Island in Pigeon Forge, I had NO IDEA about the other rides that were just around the corner. It was our first time going there, but I just hadn’t researched it at all.  We didn’t have time to check out the rides, so we promised the kids we’d go back the next day when we had more time.  My son was especially interested in the ropes course!

I searched on my phone but couldn’t find a discount or coupon for the rides.  At the ticket counter, you can purchase a 2-day pass ($40) that includes unlimited rides, plus the Smoky Mountain Wheel and the ropes course.   If I’d known about that, we would have arrived earlier and purchased it the previous day so we could enjoy it over the 2 days we were in the area!  I was kicking myself over this situation.  Since my kids wanted to ride all of the attractions (of course) it was cheaper to do the unlimited pass.  The passholder wears a colored band or two, then carries a card to verify purchase.

We also had to stop at this Zoltar fortune teller….it reminded me of the movie BIG with Tom Hanks.

My son spent about 10 minutes in the ropes course that should have taken at least an hour.  I don’t think he realized how big it was until he got up there!  I was really impressed with the dozens of courses you could take on it, plus the jumping platform on the side.  There are also a couple of zip line areas.  It was very cool and reasonably priced when purchased separately, too.

The rides at The Island are very similar to the ones at the Midway area in Dollywood.  There are several choices for smaller children, and the lines weren’t too bad. I loved that the rides were located in one central area. It made things so much easier to transition from one activity to the next!

The ride operators were attentive and patient with the kids.  Most of them did check the scan card to verify that the rider had unlimited access.  The equipment appeared to be safe; actually, it looked really new and nice!

My kids rode enough to make the unlimited bracelet worthwhile, but eventually they tired of the fair-style rides.

Sadly, the Mirror Maze was not included in the ride-bracelet deal, so we paid for a separate package.  The bumper cars were fun (green and gold were super fast!) and my kids liked the laser tag.  We might try to visit again to check out the rest of the activities in there.

My only complaint about The Island was the lack of shaded benches.  There were a few strategically located about the pavilion, but they were all full.  If you do need to take a load off, head to the fountain and watch the water show. There are dozens of rocking chairs placed around the pool.  It’s so pretty!

I’d love to see a full ticket package for The Island.  Something that includes all of the activities, a meal, and perhaps a discount at the stores…..we really could spend all day here!

Would you like to visit The Island at Pigeon Forge?

  4. We only discovered Pidgeon Forge about thirteen years ago, but haven’t been yet.
It appears to be an awesome place to visit and have FUN!

  5. We considered going to Pigeon Forge this summer, but the crowds/traffic is bad, we decided against it. If my kids had known about activities such as this, we may have selected Pigeon Forge over our Missouri trip (though we’re probably going there next summer). Thank you for an interesting review.

  6. My niece would especially love that rope course.

  10. We LOVE Pigeon Forge!! We went to the Island, but a few of the rides and that are new in the pictures, because we didn’t see them. I loved it at some of the restaurants, they offered homemade jam and syrup that you can buy and take home. They were so good!! The apple butter jelly that we brought home was out of this world! Everyone we went, people were nice and down to earth!! Thank you for sharing the pictures! I can see much of the updates and additions that were made.

  11. Tons of fun, some of the rides and machines look like the ones at the fair in my local city

  12. We have never been there, but it does look like a lot of fun!!!

  13. I have never been there, and as far as I know it’s not close to where I live. It looks like fun, but I’m not sure it compares to disney.
