Incline Railway + Lookout Mountain in Chattanooga, TN

Disclosure: I received complimentary tickets for the Incline Railway; opinions shared are mine.

A few days ago, my students listened to the “I Have a Dream” speech and cheered when Dr. King mentioned Lookout Mountain.  Ironically, very few of them could identify just where Lookout Mountain was!  My own kids know, thanks to our recent visit to Chattanooga.  We took the Incline Railway to the top of the mountain. Here’s what it was like!  [Read more…]

You’ve seen the signs and the bold barn roofs, right?  SEE ROCK CITY is an iconic message that everyone seems to know, yet not many really understand.  Last fall, we had the chance to visit Rock City Gardens in lovely Chattanooga, Tennessee. We stayed at a campground in Chattanooga and drove about 15 minutes to Rock City. Our family enjoyed a fun camping trip to Chattanooga, TN over fall break.  The last time I’d been there was over 20 years ago, so I was excited to return with my kids.  In the next few days, I’ll share some of our adventures with you.  First, let’s take a look at the Tennessee Aquarium!   This amazing attraction is right in the heart of downtown Chattanooga. Davy Crockett Birthplace State Park Campground in Greeneville TN

Last weekend we stayed at Davy Crockett Birthplace State Park campground in Limestone, Tennessee.  It’s located near Greeneville, TN.  There is a beautiful river just inside the campground where you can wander on a trail, do some fishing, or just enjoy the serenity from a bench. Gatlinburg East KOA Campground in Cosby TN

For our first camping trip in Pigeon Forge, we chose Gatlinburg East KOA Campground in Cosby, TN.  There were so many options in the area that the selecting one was overwhelming!  We finally chose the KOA because it had excellent TripAdvisor reviews.  It was simple to make reservations online, and the Value Kard fee paid for itself ($30 cost, gives a 10% discount).   [Read more…]

Savings for a fun day at The Island in Pigeon Forge, TN #TheIslandPF

So, when we got discounted tickets for the 7D ride at The Island in Pigeon Forge, I had NO IDEA about the other rides that were just around the corner. It was our first time going there, but I just hadn’t researched it at all.  We didn’t have time to check out the rides, so we promised the kids we’d go back the next day when we had more time.  My son was especially interested in the ropes course!
