This summer when my grandmother and cousin visited, we had a little time on our hands. We spent most of it watching the entire Downton Abbey series. Of course, that warranted a trip to the Biltmore Estate! It was the closest thing we have to the Abbey, after all. [Read more…]
Heading to Bristol, TN this weekend for the Battle at Bristol? Be sure to stop by the Blackbird Bakery downtown. You won’t be disappointed! It’s right off State Street, but the parking isn’t easy to find so take what you can get. When you enter, you’ll see the beautifully restored building that houses the bakery. You’ll probably have to stand in line, but it’s totally worth the wait. Let me indulge you for a moment.
Key lime cheesecake, my friends.
Here’s where you can get it …… [Read more…]
We’re lucky to live within driving distance of Pigeon Forge, TN. In the Sevierville and Gatlinburg area, there are so many family-friendly activities to enjoy. We got word that May was Teacher Appreciation Month at WonderWorks, so we headed down there one Saturday. My kids call this “The Upside Down House.”
Spring is in the air here in TN — even though today is chilly, the days have been wonderfully warm until this weekend. I spend most of my free time in the garden. When the hours go by and the kids remind me that it’s time for dinner, it takes me by surprise. If you’re in the same boat, enter this giveaway for a chance to win 4 Krystal combo meals! These vouchers were sent to me for an earlier promotion, but we didn’t use them. So I’m sharing them with you! Spring in the USA means time spent outside, and if you have these coupons you might not have to cook. Score!

When you travel, what’s your favorite souvenir to buy? Whenever we visit a new city, I look for a book on haunted history for that area. It’s a good way to know the places where history and local legend meet. That’s why I was so excited to find this title at our local used bookstore a few weeks ago.
Aside from the supernatural stuff in these pages, it’s just fascinating to read the stories of the past. Each chapter is dedicated to a different landmark, such as East Tennessee State University or various hotels. I’m always intrigued by the ghost stories of old places, so it was fun to learn about these sites that are so close to home. If you’re interested in this type of book, I highly recommend Ghosts and Haunts of Tennessee.
What books are on your wish list? If you’re lucky, you might win a $10 Amazon gift code to help you get that book!
The giveaway is open to INT readers ages 18+. Void where prohibited by law. Good luck!
Have you ever read a book about local ghosts?
Disclosure: I received coupons; opinions shared here are 100% mine.
Ryan’s. Veggie Tales. Love them both. Though I thought that ne’er the twain shall meet, I was WRONG!
If you darken the doors at Ryan’s, HomeTown Buffet, and Old Country Buffet in the early part of 2015, you’ll be greeted with this awesome poster:
Tonight we went with friends to the Appalachian Fair in Gray, TN. We parked way too far away, spent way too much money, and got a little sunburned. We also had loads and loads of fun!! Sounds like the perfect way to spend a summer evening, right??? The last time I went to the Appalachian Fair was about 7 years ago when my daughter was really young. My kids were completely ecstatic about going (of course) because they’re used to me being the Helicopter Mom who doesn’t let them do anything remotely scary. I still cringe inside when I think about that gigantic ferris wheel we rode. But you know what? We survived and had a great time!
Tonight may have been the one and only time my children were as excited about I am about coupons.
It’s been a while since I shared a Tricities business with you. Today I thought I’d show you one of the restaurants we visited last week. I bought a gift certificate from Restaurant.com which gave us $25 off a $37.50 purchase. We were in the area anyway so why not take advantage of the discount?
