Illuminated Texts made simple #MothersDayHop2017 #giveaway ends 5/6 –> Complete Guide to Bible Journaling

Disclosure: I received this book to feature; post contains affiliate links. Opinions shared are mine.

I hope you don’t think I’ve fallen off the face of the earth.  Things have just been so busy around here that I had to take a step back and make sure my family was taken care of.  The flu hit us a for a second round, then an ugly stomach bug was passed around.  My daughter had several school events going on around the same time, so she got bogged down with  makeup work from the classes she missed.  She ended up bringing home this art project for illuminated texts.  Thank goodness I had a review copy of The Complete Guide to Bible Journaling — it was put to good use!

The NKJV Woman’s Study Bible

Disclosure: I received this book from Litfuse. Opinions shared are mine.

Our pastor challenged the congregation to read the Bible on a regular basis. While this might seem like an obvious activity for most Christian churchgoers, it’s definitely one area where many busy people slack (myself included).  I was excited to receive the NKJV Woman’s Study Bible for review because I knew that I could really grow with it.  [Read more…]

#TheGospelOfMark from @TheLumoProject #ad #RWM #giveaway ends 3/31

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post on behalf of Review Wire Media for The Lumo Project. I received information to facilitate my review as well as a promotional item to thank me for my participation.

Walk into our living room at 3 AM, and you’re likely to catch my husband watching a historical documentary.  The rest of us have caught the bug, too.   It makes history come alive in a way that books don’t always allow.  With the Lumo Project‘s Gospel DVDs, I feel a similar connection. The Gospel of Mark will be available at Walmart on March 14, and would be a wonderful gift for the history buff in your life. Tuck it in an Easter basket or gift it to your pastor. [Read more…]

In the 1990s, my cousin introduced me to Christian music.  He was obsessed with rap at the time, so DC Talk was his favorite.  I preferred Jars of Clay and Twila Paris.  Our preferences didn’t matter, though.  The important thing was the encouragement we received from the uplifting lyrics.  To this day, I find contemporary Christian music to be important part of my worship.  When my Laura Story “Open Hands” CD arrived, we listened to it on the way to school.  We have a long commute, so we were able to hear almost all of the songs during that drive!  [Read more…]

Wondering IF you can make a difference? Read The Jesus Club by Brian Barcelona

Disclosure: I received this book through a Cross Focused Reviews tour. Opinions shared are mine.

A few times in my life, I’ve wondered if I make a difference in the world.   Haven’t we all been there at some point?  When you’re a Christian, it’s even more important to feel like you’ve made an impact for Christ.  After all, keeping Him to yourself is like winning the lottery and keeping it a secret from your best friends!  The Jesus Club chronicles the impact that Brian Barcelona made when he entered the doors of local high schools.  By sharing the gospel, he changed the lives of hundreds of teens.  [Read more…]

Duck Commander Happy, Happy, Happy Stories for Kids @TommyMommy

Duck Commander stories usually remind me of my quirky but loving family.  The newest title, Happy, Happy, Happy Stories for Kids by Korie Robertson and Chrys Howard, is perfect for kids ages 4-8. The book contains an abundance of family-friendly, funny, and mostly true Duck Dynasty stories that kids (and parents) can relate to.

Help your daughter get her head above the waves

Disclosure: I am a Tommy Mommy blogger and received book samples. Post contains affiliate links; opinions shared are mine.

If you were riding in the van with us this morning, you would have thought I was mother of the year.  My sweet almost-teen daughter and I were sharing beloved worship songs, listening to each other’s music and talking about old favorites like Rich Mullins.  Every once in a while, my son chimed in with his own thoughts about the songs.  Life isn’t always like that for us — it’s just that right now, my daughter’s head is above the waves of life.  It’s inevitable that more storms will bring waves crashing down upon us…..we don’t expect constant happiness.  For now, though, this is enough.  If you’re struggling with your daughter’s life waves, here are some things that might help. Share grace with the new (in)courage #CravingConnection line from DaySpring

Disclosure: I am part of the Craving Connection launch team and received products to share; post contains affiliate links.  Opinions shared are mine.

I used to love to write encouraging cards and notes for people.  Over the years, it seemed obsolete, and I gradually stopped doing that.  Last night, one of our small group members commented that encouragement really means a lot to him.  It occurred to me that maybe God wants me to encourage others!  I love the song “I Wanna Live Like That” and it reminds me to be love.  That’s why I really like the Craving Connection (in)courage line from DaySpring. Share grace and encouragement with the message of connection!  [Read more…]

Lovely new devotional from Faithgirlz @BookLookBloggers

Disclosure: I received this copy from BookLook. Post contains affiliate links; opinions shared are mine.

My daughter recently attended her first teen convention. She had an absolutely amazing trip with our church, and when she came home I could see the growth in her spiritual self.  As I perused the BookLook available titles for January, she saw this lovely new devotional and asked me if I’d get it for her.  That, in itself, is a big step!  [Read more…]

5 Books I read in December – The Frugal Gazette + more

In December, I went through a reading blitz. I tried to speed through some of the books that had been sitting on my shelf so that I could make room for 2017 new releases. These 5 books were actually set aside for my husband, since he usually prefers nonfiction (I don’t.) They’re books that the guys may want to read, but don’t let that stop you from sharing them with the women in your life, too!

Disclosure: I received these books from Baker and Revell Publishing. Post contains affiliate links; opinions shared are my own. [Read more…]
