I visited the “Not Really Of Us” site to get a feel for what the book is all about. Interestingly, the title refers to the issue of Christian parents and their children who fall away from the faith. Sometimes this can result in a spiritually broken parent-child relationship. I’ve seen this happen with friends and family; it’s a real issue in the church. Having attended a Christian college, it was hard to see some of my dearest friends pull away from a place so close to Jesus and move on a path all their own. I can only imagine the heartache it causes their parents!
As a mom, my deepest prayer is for my children to grow up loving and following the Lord. It’s my responsibility to help them find their way during the years they live in my home. After that, though, their choices are their own. I pray that I show them the love of Christ while they’re under my care.
