Spring break at home with the kids is a total blast. We haven’t been very productive….we did get our grocery shopping finished and worked in the garden a little, but that’s it. You know what, it has been wonderful to just have a relaxing week at home. We’ve showered and put on clean pj’s which we stayed in all day. I love days where we can just be a bit lazy! I know that my carriage will turn back into a pumpkin in just a few days, so we’re enjoying it while we can. It just wouldn’t be Savings in Seconds if I didn’t post about some spring break savings!
Need some happy optimism? Try happify! I think my mom would love to sit and play these mind games on the iPad. They are supposed to train your brain to be happier. This would also be a great idea to give to the person who is recovering from an illness or the mom-to-be on bedrest. Think of someone in your life who could use a boost and send them this link!
If you’re hitting the mid-week blues and need a good cup of joe to get you through, here are some coupons to print out and get you that caffeine fix. The coffee drinkers at work are always needing to replenish the stash. If you’re in the same boat, print off a couple of extras and leave them at the coffeemaker. Your bleary-eyed friends will thank you for it.

Raise your hand if you haven’t been saving Box Tops for Education because it’s too much hassle, but you’d still like to support the local schools. Did you know that you can earn eBox Tops? I had no idea!! There’s a marketplace just for earning Box Tops that earns savings based on what you spend and gives it directly to the school of your choice. Pretty cool!! I loved the Coach purses on the Box Tops site. When we cut and save Box Tops, they can get pretty messy in our drawer. I used to save them in an envelope, but am loving these printable sheets. You can hand it to your child and have her glue the Box Top on the sheet. I love giving my child ownership over things that help improve her school! Consider using the back of a homework sheet or some other one-sided school paper to save resources.
One more facet of our spring break happiness is watching all the TV we want. Normally we have a somewhat flexible limit on screen time at our house. It’s not a hard and fast rule by any means, but the kids are so busy playing outside or doing homework that they don’t get to watch a lot of shows. This week, all of us have just vegged in front of the tube. I love me some Netflix movies, and we also watched the finale of the Bible which was an amazing miniseries! We watch for familiar stuff in our favorite shows (we’re weird like that) — my husband spotted a Matilda Jane shirt on Duck Dynasty. One show I haven’t seen yet is The Carrie Diaries, which features Carrie Bradshaw. I heard that she wears an Up In The Tee Top from ModCloth in one of the scenes and now I want to see it for myself. I love ModCloth designs and it’s always fun to see things like that on a show. It’s also a great style for her because it is very flattering around the waistline.
What are you up to during spring break? Do you stay busy on your time off, or do you enjoy having nothing to do?
