How to soothe itchy skin during the winter months

My skin is generally easy going, but it complains during the winter months. As soon as it’s time to break out the long sleeved shirts, small red bumps develop along my wrists.  Sometimes the dry winter air, combined with frequent hand washing, wreaks havoc on my hands, where the skin becomes so dry that it cracks and bleeds.  Anywhere elastic touches my skin, it leaves red itchy spots.  In the past, I’ve had to resort to months of steroid treatments to soothe my itchy skin. Fortunately, natural remedies are working well for me this year!

I recently visited the doctor about another issue when she noticed my itchy skin. She suggested that I apply an eczema-specific lotion when I shower, immediately after I get out (while skin is still wet).  That practice alone hasn’t been very effective in stopping the itch.  When Eden’s Semilla sent me their 100% Pure Organic Jojoba Oil and 100% Naturally sourced Vitamin E Oil with Rosehip and Jojoba Blend, I started working that into my routine.

I’ve been using the Jojoba oil on my left arm, and the Vitamin E on my right arm, for a few days.  As you can see, I still have a few red spots on each arm, but they’ve improved dramatically since I started applying the oils.  Before using the oils, the redness was evident all over my forearms, torso, and stomach.  I found that the Vitamin E was slightly more effective on most of the itching.  I did not detect a strong scent from either oil, and both seemed to absorb directly into my skin right away.

Eden’s Semilla oils can also be used on hair and your nails!  I love it when a beauty product does double duty.  These products are extremely versatile.  When my children were small, they suffered from eczema.   We started giving them a nightly baby massage after their baths, and used cold-press oils like these (instead of baby lotion).  We noticed that the eczema cleared up, and that the massages helped to settle the children down before bed.   I could only find those oils at the natural food store at that time, and they were pricey!  Eden’s Semilla is available on Amazon at affordable prices.
