Sisterhood is something I never enjoyed until I was an adult. My dearest friends became my sisters, starting with my college roommate and extending to my sister-in-law. I’ve been so fortunate to create relationships with some amazing women, those I’d trust with my own life and that of my children. In the book Sister Dear by Laura McNeill, the main character Allie is thrown into prison for manslaughter. Not part of her 10 year plan, that’s for sure! She depends on her only lifeline – her sister – to keep her in touch with life. This book has all the makings of a Lifetime movie!
Lots of emotions rolled through my mind as the book consumed my weekend. Distrustful of most characters, I found myself leaning toward one just in time to find a new fact about a different person. McNeill wound a tight thread of deceit, scandal, and revenge. My heart poured out for sweet Caroline, whose social struggles and almost-adult teen years were troubled by uncertainty. My favorite character in this book was Natalie (or perhaps Russell).
Although this is a Thomas Nelson book, it’s not dripping with evangelical themes. In fact, faith played a very small part of Sister Dear. There were several mentions of bedroom moments, as well as significant dark drama going on. There was no profanity that I recall. Each chapter held new anticipation as I wondered how the events would add up in the end. Bottom line? YES, you want to read Sister Dear.
This books sounds pretty interesting, I don’t mind reading a book if it has a bit of drama or that who done it type, without all the axing loll Hopefully in the future I will have a chance
to read this for myself..

Love the cover! Thanks for the review 🙂
It was very intense, but I liked it and am glad I don’t have a sister like Allie had.
My sisters are all wonderful.
Nice review, nice blog.
