Rock 'N Learn DVDs will help my son learn to read! savingsinseconds.com

My memory might be slipping, but there are some things I’ll never forget.  One of my most vivid memories is learning to read by listening to books on tape. My parents played these cassette tapes for me and handed me the accompanying picture book.  When the little chime rang, I knew it was my cue to turn the page.  At some point in the many times I read those books, the words became sight words for me.  I learned how to read at the age of 3 and as you can tell from my book reviews, I’m not anywhere close to slowing down.   I may be dating myself by telling that story, but if you did the same thing, you can probably  hear that chime in your mind, too.   These days kids don’t even know what a cassette tape is, but they definitely know how to listen to books while looking at the pictures.  Believe it or not, that’s such a valuable way to teach sight words!   My son is very technology-oriented, even at the ripe old age of 4 years old.  We’re certain that he’ll learn to read while playing the iPad or watching a DVD like Sight Words from Rock ‘N Learn.  We received a copy of this DVD and my kids ask to watch it all the time.  You can save 25% on your own order with code  JQ7711 at  www.rocknlearn.com.

My daughter has already started requesting more Rock ‘N Learn titles.  When I visited the website, I was really pleased to find that Rock ‘N Learn titles correlate with Common Core standards.  The state of Tennessee is rapidly moving toward the Common Core curriculum, so these DVDs will closely align with what my children are already learning in school.  The Sight Words 3 DVD we received covers all Dolch first grade level sight words.  If your child is having trouble progressing with reading, or if you want to give your younger child a leg up, this is a great way to expose your emerging reader to these sight words.   My son memorized the DVD after the first few times he saw it.  That gives me great hope that he’ll learn these words as sight words, even though he’s only 4 years old.

Be sure to check back on September 7 for your chance to win a Rock ‘N Learn DVD or CD of your choice!

I love tricks and tips to help kids learn. Giving a beat/rhythm/ or fun association to words helps kids. There are many tricks but fun shows are great. My daughter remembers School House Rock and can still sing about being a bill on Capitol Hill
