Each year, I face the challenge of finding unique items for the kids in my life.  From my personal children, to nieces and nephews, to the students at my school who need a little extra Christmas cheer, there are so many kiddos to buy for.  If you need a little inspiration, check out some of these fun sensory items!

Little MissMatched socks

I didn’t get to photograph these before they were snagged by my own kids, but these socks are adorable.  These socks are meant to be mismatched.  Adorable as can be, these coordinating styles and colors look great with vivid colors and patterns.  You can even get them in SMELLY SOCK versions – complete with burger scented socks!

Floof Snowball Maker

A new student just moved to my class.  He’s from Florida and got to see snow for the first time last week!  With Floof, you can have snow anytime.  This set comes with white modeling clay, 3 different molds for snowballs, and a reusable tub.  The floof is so soft, kids will love to touch it!  It’s also pretty simple to clean up.  This is perfect for a sensory table or just for creating scenes with your Elf.

Sands Alive

Sands Alive has a similar appeal with a different mode of play.  There are many playsets available with a variety of tools and accessories.  We received the Sapphire Blue kit, which came with rollers and arrows.  Honestly, I think I enjoyed playing with this as much as my son did!  The sand is very soft to touch, almost like cornstarch, and it’s fun to make impressions on the surface.  This would be a fun way to practice spelling words, do math calculations, or just destress.  It’s also easy to clean up; just grab a broom or a wet washcloth.

Play Dirt

If your kids like their Play Dirt to have a little more action going on, then the Monster Truck Rally set is perfect.  This kit contains the same “dirt” as Sands Alive, but also comes with monster trucks, a play mat, and a road roller.  It’s great for those days when it’s just too cold to play in actual dirt.  I like to put this kit inside of a dishpan or even a foil roasting pan to make cleanup even easier.

Tumble Wonder

The teachers in the world are going to hate me for sharing this, but Tumble Wonder is the new fidget spinner.  This little gadget is only 3.5 inches tall, but it’s easily addictive. It reminds me of those old weeble-wobble toys that could be knocked over but righted themselves.  The Tumble Wonder repeatedly tumbles and sits upright again. It continues to move as it gains momentum. This would make a really fun Christmas vacation experiment — see how many tumbles you can get with one push!  Have a Tumble competition!   It’s weighted and fits well in a pocket, so kids can manipulate it silently, too.  Since it’s so small, it makes the perfect stocking stuffer.

Do you know someone who would enjoy these toys?

Many thanks to these brands for sending me samples.
