One of my friends commented that having a Secret Pal sort of forced her to connect with people outside of her classroom.  She learned to take the focus off of herself and enjoy making someone else happy.  So, that’s when I decided to fill out the Secret Pal form.  For the past couple of years I skipped the signups because I was a little overwhelmed with teaching a new subject area.  Now that I know my way around the language arts curriculum, it was time to step out of the comfort zone.  Here are some gift ideas that caught  my eye this weekend.

This devotional, titled 5 Minutes with Jesus: A Fresh Infusion of Joy,  is perfect for the busy lady.  Just as the word JOY is short and sweet, this book is small enough to enjoy while drinking the morning cup of coffee.  Since it’s a decorative hardcover, it can even be used as a decorative piece on a desk.  The pages are even pretty!  In this book, readers are treated to short passages that inspire joy.  If your secret pal works in a mentally-exhausting field like education, it’s important to refill her bucket of happiness.   For those who don’t want to go with a spiritually influenced book, consider getting your secret pal a novel or even a variety of magazines.
