During the summer months, we enjoy hosting pool parties. July 4 is always a very special event because it’s my brother-in-law’s birthday. We celebrate with fireworks, fun family time, and of course — food!  The finale of the big 4th pool party event is always a delicious dessert. This year, Sweetworks will be the star of our show.  With their assortment of candy, it was easy as 1-2-3 to create a colorful, edible centerpiece for our outdoor table.

Using delicious Sweetworks candies to top your ice cream means you don’t have to heat up the kitchen!  This can also be prepped in advance, so that you can fully enjoy your guests.

Pull out that sectional salad bowl and put it to good use.  In each section, put a colorful Sweetworks topping.  The delightful Candy Crumbles are soft, not-too-sweet crunchies that resemble candy cane pieces. They’re not as hard, though, so they’re perfect for ice cream.  I also used the patriotic Pearls candies. These melt just a bit on the ice cream, making pretty streaks that the kids love!

Before the party, dish out bowls of ice cream.  To keep the ice cream from melting before your guests have time to top the treats, nestle the bowls in a tray of ice.  This makes serving so easy, too. Just pull the tray out of the freezer and take it outside!  Ovation sticks add a touch of sophistication to each bowl.  These are Irish Cream flavored (yes, I said that. Wowzers.) but you can also choose Mint or Orange flavor.

Your guests will enjoy customizing the ice cream bowls to their liking.  A sprinkle of Candy Crumble and a few Pearls make this a dessert to remember.

So tempting!!

Once your guests indulge in ice cream, simply replace the centerpiece with an assortment of candies.  Your guests will enjoy sitting around the table and savoring red foiled milk chocolate hearts, blue and white foiled chocolate balls, red/white/blue colored sweet shapes and gumballs.  This is also a good alternative for those who don’t want to eat ice cream.

Be sure to give each guest a Sweetworks Patriotic take-home bag!  I filled mine with red and blue sixlets, foil covered chocolates, and gumballs.

Sweetworks has everything you need for a picture-perfect patriotic party.  Be sure to order plenty so that you can snack on it while preparing your desserts. Oops, did I type that out loud?

What type of Sweetworks candy would make your party pop?

Thanks to Sweetworks for sending us this candy to try!
