The number 24

The number 24 is used pretty often in everyday circles.  One of my favorite examples is the show 24.  I would definitely be on the bandwagon if someone nominated Jack Bauer for president!  My husband and I watched through Season 7.   With 24: Season 1 being only $13.59 with Amazon Prime (regularly priced at $49.98), this is a must-grab deal for Christmas gift-giving!

I love the 24 Math Game.  Have you played it before?  It’s a great way to help children develop mental math skills.  Basically, each card has four digits on it.  Players must use math operations (add, subtract, multiply, and/or divide), using each digit exactly once, in order to come up with the solution of 24.  It’s highly addictive!  Back in the day when I taught math, I used to put up a new problem each day for the students to solve. This is a great game to keep in the van for road trips or for long waits in the doctor’s office.

Just a few weekends ago, my children passed around a 24-hour stomach bug.  While you might see that as a cup-half-empty thing, it would have been wonderful if the virus only lasted 24 hours for everyone!  As it happens, my gastrointestinal tract was wonky for at least a week.  I did lose 10 pounds, though!  Just when you think that 24 hours in the day aren’t enough, there comes a deal like a fabulous 24 hour sale. Starting October 27, Bonobos is offering a Monster Sale that features up to 30% off site-wide.

What’s your favorite way to think of the number 24?

  1. Interesting–I had never heard of the program 24! As for 24 hour virus–knock on wood I haven’t had one for a couple of years–but they rarely last only 24 hours! The number 24 really has no special significance to me—now ask me about the number 13——-

  2. 24 is my husbands absolute favorite series!

  3. Well, my favorite way to use 24 isn’t a virus, that’s for sure. The 24 math game sounds pretty interesting.

  5. I definitely don’t want to 24 hour virus! I rather the game any day!

That’s a great deal on the season of 24. I actually never saw it, but my son and daughter-in-law love it. A good gift for them and a way for me to go back and check it out.

  7. I’m so sad that 24 came to an end. We watched it from the very beginning and it always kept us on the edge of our seats!
