If it must be cold, I’d like to see some snow. Now that it’s hitting the 40’s with no sign of a snow day, I’m thinking ahead to spring. These fun beauty buys helped to get me in the mindset of brighter colors, lighter fabrics, and sunnier smiles. My skin hasn’t caught on to the new program. A few days ago, it became clear that my hands were starting to look like old-lady skin. There is a definite crepe thinness to the skin on my hands. They’re dry and showing lots of fine lines. You can imagine my horror! It was time to take drastic measures. Recently I’ve been using the New Radiance Naturals Vitamin C Serum on my neck and decolletage. My skin soaks up the moisture like a sponge. I thought it would work well on my hands, too. You can tell from the image above that the dryness dramatically improved right away. My husband held my hand and instantly noticed that my left hand was softer than my right. There wasn’t a strong scent, and no greasy residue remained on my skin. The bottle is very small so I use this quite sparingly!  At the right price, it’s definitely something I’d use on a regular basis to improve my skin’s appearance.  The formula is earth-friendly, using no parabens or sulfates. It’s gluten-free and was made without animal testing.  It’s interesting to note that this products can enhance sun protection benefits from sunscreen.    New Radiance Naturals Vitamin C Serum review savingsinseconds.com

You might have noticed my nails in the photo above.  The decals arrived in this month’s Beauty Box 5.  Check out the rest of the ready-for-spring box.  I love the mascara that came.  Even the tube is pretty!  I was surprised at the bold eyeshadow colors. These will really rock with some of the spring fashions I will feature in a few weeks!

January Beauty Box 5 #BB5

I look forward to that box every month, but January’s box made me squeal with delight.  At a recent meeting, we discussed these nail polish stickers.  I’ve tried them in the past but it’s been a while.  When these awesome patterned stickers arrived, I tried them right away.  It’s a 5 minute mani that looks surprisingly great.  Many compliments came my way this week, and it was impressive that the polish strips lasted almost 10 days.  To be honest, I tired of them before they even looked bad.  Isn’t that a pleasant change from the typical mani?

You can also find polish strips as low as 32 cents on Amazon!  You might have to pay for shipping since these aren’t eligible for Prime, but you still save a bundle!

Now that my hands were soft again, and I was in the mood for a mani, it was time to update the look with some really bright spring colors.

SinfulColors Valentine's Day shades - savingsinseconds.com mani

SinfulColors has an adorable Valentine’s Day “Flirt With Hearts” collection that’s perfect for girlies of any age.  Normally the purples and teals aren’t my thing, but with this new line I couldn’t help but give them a try. My favorite ended up being the shade Dream On, which is a decadent boysenberry.  The great thing about this shade is that it covers my inperfections pretty well. Upon first glance, you probably wouldn’t notice that my index fingernail was a little lopsided; the bold boysenberry shade hides it well!  (I painted a bit of my fingertip to hide the broken nail; see inset photo.)   With SinfulColors, you get a very faint first coat so if you use this, you’re committing to at least two coats and a probable third.  I used Love Sprinkles as a topcoat with decent results.  The heart shapes weren’t very prolific throughout the polish. Instead, it’s mostly tiny white dots, so it looks more like speckled polish.  It’s probably not a polish I’d use on a regular basis but it’s fun for a bit of dramatic effect.  You can follow SinfulColors on Facebook, Twitter (@SinfulColors_NP), and Instagram (sinfulcolorsprofessional) for more mani ideas!

It’s fun to change seasons and change colors. Really freshens up your wardrobe and outlook. What fun colors, too! Love how your nails POP.

  2. Those nail colors are amazing! I love Rise and Shine and Dream On! You know I let my nails go a bit in the winter. I just keep up cuticles and such but let go of the actual polish until around spring. I have no idea why but I have noticed this is a pattern for me. I need to do better next winter 🙂
Great post! Love the eye colors in the BB5 as well.

  3. Honestly – I never give up on the bold, bright colors of spring. I wear them all year round. I’m wearing fleece lined flannel right now and it’s hot pink and purple plaid. heh I love that GoGo Girl Nail Polish – that is the kind of color I’d wear when I wore nail polish

I love that Sinful Colors purple and how you added the sparkle top coat! I have a hard time committing to new cosmetics- they can be pricy and I never know how they will work0 I like the idea of getting a box of new brands and products each month to try.

  5. I agree about it not snowing this year. It’s been such an odd winter! I love the bottom purple and really does make me wish for Spring and all the fresh growth.

  6. I love those nail decals. I use Sally Hanson all the time!

  7. Great list of ideas. I especially like the purple nails with sparkles. That serum looks good too.

  8. So fancy and fun. I love that you do such unique things with your nails! I am jealous 🙂

  9. I’ve worn nail polish about 2 times in the last 20 years.

Beautiful!! I really need to pamper my hands more. The cold weather has made them so dry and it’s time to do a little makeover to moisturize and also paint my nails a pretty color.

    I love great beauty buys.

  12. The types of shades I wear don’t really change for the season, but these do look like some fun colors!

  13. I LOVE the nail decals! Those are so fun!

  14. I love the 5 minute manicure!! I never have the patience to allow my nails to dry I always seem to bump them.

  15. I love Sinful Colors! So many great colors for an unbeatable price. Perfect for nail polish addicts like me.

  16. I’m not generally crazy about very bright colors but that purple is nice! I think I saw that brand in a nail salon I used to go to.

  17. I love nail stickers too. I use them on my nails because they are so easy.

  18. I’m ready for spring and can’t wait to glam up my look with pretty colors for the new season. I’ll have to check out the SinfulColors brand – the ones that you featured are so pretty!

About a year ago I began to notice my first real signs of aging. I have “decent”65 year old fair to medium toned skin that tends to be on the dry side with a few pale pink/reddened areas on my forehead, chin and cheeks. I haven’t used a topical Vitamin C serum before, so I think I’ll give New Radiance Naturals Vitamin C Serum a try.

  21. I love the nail stickers too! Tried them for the first time last summer and I prefer them now over polish.

  22. Hi! I love the purple polish with the white specks on it! Looks cool!
That top product, the vitamin c serum, made your hands look great after! I have tried many vitamin c serums but they make me breakout, a lot of things make me breakout,,, I’m 30 with the chin and sometimes forehead of a teenager!

  23. Andrea Johnson says

I love you nail ideas! So cute. Would so pay to have that done, just sayinn’.

  24. How adorable is that! I can’t even do my nails with decals. I cut them very short for handling dough while baking.

  25. Andrea Johnson says

that is nice. I wish I could get this.

  26. Sherry Compton says

My daughter is getting ready to try some of those stick on nail decals. They look so easy and good on you. I like how it’s not a long process and doesn’t use a heating lamp to stick. They have so many options, too.
