What are your go-to gift items for baby showers? Swings, bouncers, and clothes are wonderful packages to open. The gift that I found myself using all the time, though, were the books that my friends gave us. We read to our babies so often that I often memorized the stories! When my second child was born, my daughter (5 years older) was a little jealous of all the new toys and gadgets we got for the baby. A few of my friends gave her gifts as well, and it made her feel so special. After all, Labor Day can be stressful for siblings as well as the mama. For our Labor Day giveaway, one lucky reader will win something for baby and sibling!
The hardcover book 5 Minute Nighttime Bible Stories really looks like something special. It’s larger than a typical children’s book, so it makes a lovely item to put on display in the nursery. The illustrations are vivid and bright, with happy animals and cheerful images. I like the printed sound effects that are on each page, which encourage kids to get involved in reading. There are also questions throughout the book that engage children; counting objects, identifying different animals, and brief easy-to-read prayers will give kids something to accomplish while reading. The stories are short enough to read together, yet they build your family’s understanding of basic Bible stories. Here’s a tip for the traveling parent — record these stories for your child before you leave for a business trip. While you’re gone, your child can play the recording and enjoy the story with you!
The Swan Princess: Princess Today, Pirate Tomorrow is a new release from Sony Home Entertainment. The story takes place after Derek and Odette get married, and they’re off on their own adventure. Left behind is sweet little Alise, who is being groomed to perform her royal princess duties. She has other plans, though! This movie has appeal for both boys and girls. Who can resist Sailor Boot Camp? I love that! Little sailors will be inspired to learn the constellations and knot-tying. This story emphasizes positive theme topics such as teamwork, adventure, individuality, and friendship. There are some humorous moments, too. My kids loved the parrot and other talking animals. We’re always looking for a family movie to watch together, and this one is a good addition to our entertainment library. It comes in a nice slipcover case which makes it ideal for gift-giving.

I would prefer the princess life. I’m not one for dangerous adventures.
Thank you!
I think I would prefer the pirate life because I love being on the water and having lots of adventures! I wouldn’t be a pirate who stole things though, so I guess I wouldn’t be a very good one. lol
probably the princess life!
I like to read Bible stories to our children.
I would want to be a pirate so I could live on a boat.

I love reading with my boys before bedtime.
I would like the Pirate Life for my grandson
I am fit for a Princess life.
My kids and I love to read here. We sit down and read everyday.
I would like the princess life better. I just don’t seem adventurous enough to be a pirate.
I think I was born to be a princess but perhaps I would hangout with pirates now and then for the adventure.
We have always loved reading together! My best parenting tip is to always read them the author and illustrators name. My girls could recognize illustrators at a very young age.
