Treats for our furry friend --- savingsinseconds.com

I’m a label reader. When I buy snacks for my kids I check the ingredients, nutritional facts, and even where the food was grown and packaged. Having a fresh batch of high-quality treats is important for keeping our furry friend happy and healthy. You know that my dog is considered part of the family. Why wouldn’t we check labels on her food, too? Since our dog has food sensitivities, we have to be careful about what is in her foods. She has lots of favorite treats. Here are two new samples she received that she really enjoyed. The first came from Minties and the second is from Orijen.

One of her new favorites is the Orijen freeze dried treat pack that we received from Chewy.com. With free range chicken from Canada, these are small but packed with goodness. The treats don’t have the noxious odor that some treats give off. Each treat is low-calorie so if you have a dog with certain dietary restrictions, this might be a good choice. They are fairly small (about the size of one fruit snack) so I think they’d be really ideal for smaller dogs. I can’t imagine a big dog being satisfied with just one of these treats. The treats are very lightweight. My mom’s dog is diabetic and has a few other health problems. His diet is extremely limited. I think these would be a great item for her to give him each day when he receives his insulin shots. Ordering from Chewy.com is always a treat for me because it has such great customer service and very speedy shipping.

The next treat she sampled was the Minties chewy bone from VetIQ. My daughter handed her this treat and said, “yep, definitely minty!” When our friend was a puppy, she was sweet as sugar. My sister always lovingly commented “How can a puppy smell sooooo good?” while holding her. No one says that anymore. Our dog is still sweet but she doesn’t smell anything like sugar….especially her breath. So Minties is not just a treat for her, it’s also a treat for US. The chew kept her occupied for at least 10 minutes. She is a pretty aggressive chewer but she gets distracted easily. The kids were crowding around her while I took these pictures, presumably trying to help me get a good shot. It really bugged her because she just wanted to enjoy her bone. She kept moving a little farther away so they would get the hint. Afterwards she must have been satisfied because she settled right down for a little nap.
