I hope you don’t think I’ve fallen off the face of the earth.  Things have just been so busy around here that I had to take a step back and make sure my family was taken care of.  The flu hit us a for a second round, then an ugly stomach bug was passed around.  My daughter had several school events going on around the same time, so she got bogged down with  makeup work from the classes she missed.  She ended up bringing home this art project for illuminated texts.  Thank goodness I had a review copy of The Complete Guide to Bible Journaling — it was put to good use!

When they say “complete guide,” they mean it.  This book has everything you need to get started with Bible journaling.  If you’re already a pro, this guide will provide fresh inspiration.

I really like the techniques and strategies used to present the journaling ideas.  For example,  on this page, a variety of fonts were used to demonstrate the different embellishments.  Each one embodies a special mood, an emphasis on bold faith, and opportunity for customization.

I loved seeing the finished pages of expert Bible journaling.  Though I don’t devote enough time to this endeavor on my own, I love to admire others’ work.  It inspires me to try something small during my Bible reading.

To add to the hand-drawn art, the Complete Guide also includes stickers and other goodies to personalize your own Bible even more.

When I saw my daughter’s illuminated text project and the way she used the Complete Guide to Bible Journaling to create a beautiful work of art, it warmed my heart.  I hope to someday pass my Bible to my children, giving them a small reminder of my love and faith.  I want it to be a comfort for them. Seeing my journaling in the margins will also show them how much I enjoyed reading my Bible and, hopefully, will share a little of that warmth with them.

How would you use the Bible Journaling set?
