I am so gullible! Plus some free ebooks. There is a connection, I promise.

Summer is all about unfinished projects for me.  Tonight I finished one such goal — I finished reading Life of Pi. My sister loaned the book to me months ago and I started reading it that day. It was such a beautiful work of literature but painfully slow, and I stopped. The bookmark stayed there for weeks. At my brother-in-law’s urging, I forged ahead this week and finished the book. In doing so I realized that I am so gullible. For the longest time I thought this was a TRUE story.  I don’t really know why I thought that, except it seems that someone told me that once.  Like maybe when we were watching the movie preview in a commercial or something.   So I’m thinking (nearly the ENTIRE book) that this boy is floating in the Pacific Ocean with a tiger in his lifeboat.  The more I read, the more breathless I became.   It also solidified my feeling that I never want to go on a cruise.   Several times I stopped and incredulously told my husband what just happened.   My eyes were getting bigger and bigger, just imagining all of these events. That is, until I turned the book over and read the “FICTION” label on the back. Even then I had my moments of doubt. It all seemed so real!!! So if you are in that same predicament (stuck in an impasse in a book, not stuck in a lifeboat with a fully grown Bengal tiger) take Dory’s advice and just keep swimming.  Finish the book.  Or give it back, if you so choose.  Either way, the unfinished project is out of the way.  Checking that book off my to-do list gave me a huge sense of accomplishment, despite the blow to my pride when realizing it really was just a story.

There’s nothing like a good book to sooth my nerves.  Now that I’m sitting back to lick the wounds of my ego, I’m going to download a few of these freebies.  Are there any that tempt you?   Be sure to grab them while they’re free.  You know how fickle Barnes & Noble and Amazon can be!

This one has amazing reviews! I can’t wait to read it. Until Tomorrow is free on Kindle and on Nook.

Fairchild’s Lady (Culper Ring Series) seems to be a sequel…but the reviews say you can read it as a stand alone book. I’d rather try this one while it’s free and see if I like it before purchasing the others.
It’s also free on Nook.

I think I may have posted Delivered With Love as a freebie before. Oh well, if it’s a repeat, it’s worth downloading. Here it is for Nook readers.

Beyond the Storm is from the Quilts of Love Series. A few days ago I posted about A Heartbeat Away, which is from that series as well. If you’re interested in reading about that era, grab this one while it’s free because the print price is $12.99. If you need it for Nook, grab it at this link.

This is also free on Nook.
I just want to wear the dress.

Grab this pricey read while it’s free! Download it for Dad for Father’s Day, maybe? The Perfect Leader is also free on Nook.

This is a short story. Who am I to be picky when it’s free?  Clara’s Room is free on Kindle and on Nook.

Bound by Guilt is free on Kindle(still close to $10 in paperback!) and on Nook.

Happily Ever After : Six Secrets to a Successful Marriage (Chapman Guides) is free on Kindle and on Nook.

Hosting a summer get together? Check out this cookbook….or drinkbook I guess I should say.

Betty Crocker 20 Best Summer Drink Recipes is also free on Nook.

In one of this cookbook’s reviews, the suggestion is made that this is good for those who like to “doctor premade mixes.” (Hand up) Me, me, me!! I’ll take a free Brownies Cookbook, please. For Nook users, you can get it free, too.

This one seems sad. Very, very sad. The cover is quite hopeful though. I’m not sure if I can take it, but will probably download it anyway. Ollie Tibbles: The Boy Who Became a Train has good reviews. Here it is for Nook readers.

This one was an immediate “click” for me. I’m not sure why….it just looks like a book I’d like. Angels Watching Over Me (Shenandoah Sisters Book #1) is also free for Nook.

Elisha’s Bones (A Jack Hawthorne Adventure Book #1)….I’m not sure about this one. Maybe? Here it is for you Nook readers.

I love when there are free books for the kids! I download these right to their devices and then try to convince them to read. Like that’s going to happen in the middle of summer when there’s sunshine to be had. A mom can dream.

S.A.V.E. Squad Book 1: Dog Daze is free on Kindle and on Nook.

For Nook andKindle readers, here’s another one for the kiddos!

I was surprised by how many reviews this book has, all positive. I haven’t heard of this series but it sounds like something my daughter would enjoy. The Green Beans, Volume 1: The Mystery of Hollow Oak is also free on Nook.

The Green Beans, Volume 2: The Strange Genius of Lefty O’Houlihan is also free for both Kindle and Nook!

    • Oh Jaime, if you are a reader, you MUST get an ereader! So many free books! I have both the Kindle Fire and Nook color. Find myself on the Kindle much more often.

  2. Once I start a book it’s hard for to put it down until I’m done. That’s funny you thought this was based on a True story. Thanks for sharing all the free books!

  3. Haha- funny that you thought it was based on a true story! I say go on the cruise- I have been on 24 of them:)

    • Wow, 24!!! I would be more willing to try it if a friend went with me. My hubby and sister refuse to go. Maybe my BFF can be convinced.
