How to store a supply of emergency water — quick and easy #Prepping

In June I posted an article about emergency preparedness.  One area that I neglected to address is the need for clean, fresh water in case of an emergency.  There have been a few times during the years I’ve lived in Tennessee when the water wasn’t running.  We relied on bottled water during those days.  To prepare for the worst, I stored some water in some empty gallon jugs, but ewww.  Thankfully we didn’t have to use them;  the water was restored before our sterile water supply ran out.  It did leave me to wonder what we would do if the water didn’t last.  When I had the opportunity to review The Reservoir — the Emergency Water Storage System that holds 100 Gallons I realized it’s the ideal way to fill a container and store water during an emergency.

The Reservoir holds up to 100 gallons of clean water. savingsinseconds.com The Reservoir uses the space in your bathtub as the water storage container.  Sounds gross, but the container expands to fill the tub.  This way your water isn’t exposed to the ick that might be in your tub (visible or not!)    The plastic is food-grade and FDA approved.  There’s a spout at the top to easily fill the container.   You can use the siphon pump to get water out of the Reservoir.  Then you can fill smaller containers such as teapots to boil water or smaller pitchers to easily distribute the water into cups.

I didn’t take The Reservoir out of the box because I didn’t want to have to fit it back into the box.  This seems like something that would be a one-use type of item, because I”m not sure how I would clean or dry the container after the initial use.  Still, in an emergency, what a lifesaver!   I did open the box enough to feel the bag, which seems to be a sturdy plastic.  The retail value of the Reservoir is $34.95 but it’s listed on Amazon right now for $14.95.  That is a bargain for peace of mind.  I’m storing our Reservoir in the cabinet under the sink, hoping that we’ll never have to use it and relieved that we have it if we do need it.

What is your solution for emergency water storage?

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
