I’m in the minority here, but I believe that Christmas movies are best served after Thanksgiving.  On Black Friday,  the Savings in Seconds family doesn’t go shopping. We start the Christmas movie marathon. This year, Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas! was top on our list.

There are some holiday icons that just can’t be replaced.  The original Grinch is one of them!  You can’t help but love him.  You can’t help but smile at his sweet little dog Max.  Ultimately, you can’t help feeling your heart grow at the end of the movie.  We watched this on the Xbox One which doubles as a Blu-ray player.  The video was crisp and clear.  It delivered the movie just as I remember it from my childhood!  This is a must-have Grinchmas holiday movie.

My husband and I always struggle to make the spirit of Christmas an intrinsic reward instead of focusing on the material things we accumulate.  It’s been hard to guide my children in the right direction; of course, they’re normal kids and want everything they see on TV.  The Grinch is a great reminder of the true meaning of the season.  I love the scene when little Cindy Lou Who talks wakes up with such trust and innocence in her eyes.  That image captures the hope and wonder of Christmas!  

In my classroom, we’ve discussed how Dr. Seuss shared deep messages through his stories.  My students are always surprised when they recognize the political influence of The Sneetches or the environmental issues in The Lorax.  We haven’t watched How the Grinch Stole Christmas! yet, but I hope they think about it this Christmas season.

Home Entertainment brings consumers a triple dose of everyone’s favorite green grouch, the Grinch, with the release of How the Grinch Stole Christmas!: The Ultimate Edition.  Available in stores October 23, 2018, this must-have release features three animated Dr. Seuss specials including How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, The Grinch Grinches the Cat in the Hat and Halloween is Grinch Night.  All three animated specials are offered together in a Blu-ray Combo Pack, which includes a Blu-ray, DVD, and digital copy, and will retail for $24.98 SRP. This title will also be available in standard definition and will retail for $19.98 SRP.
