So it’s sunny outside. Soon the pool will be opened and it will be time to face my swimsuit again. My swimsuit and I haven’t made peace with each other since I started having babies. I bought my first “bigger” suit when on vacation after having my daughter. Then I sized up the next summer. And the next. That baby is now 9 years old and while I haven’t grown 9 sizes, it’s getting frighteningly close! It used to be easy for me to drop a few pounds when I noticed that my waistline was getting a little thick but these days my metabolism has come to a simmer. Add in my health issues and exercise is only one factor that will help keep this old ticker going. Oh dear. It’s time to get serious. I’m really glad Workouts on Demand is there 24 hours a day to help me out! Ever since I got a chance to review their workouts, I’ve been trying different classes. Here are my thoughts on the online workout issue.
I have real reservations about going to the gym. First of all, I work full-time. My child is the first to be dropped off at daycare in the morning. I certainly don’t want to add to his already long day by making him the last to be picked up. People can tell me, “You have to take care of yourself first” until they’re blue in the face, it’s just not going to happen unless my kids can be around. Secondly, I don’t really want to spend the money on a gym membership. Plus I teach in this town and it’s somewhat less respectable to be unable to do 10 pushups in front of half the parents of my students. Third, it’s important for me to have a workout routine that’s sustainable and something I like. So I decided to give Workouts On Demand a try. After signing up for a membership, you can access the online workouts and just click to get it started. It’s that quick! There are over 190 workout choices, too. The exercise calculator can help you select one if you’re not sure where to start. So there go all of my excuses, there’s no reason NOT to try it. Here are the main choices:
Then within each topic there are loads of workout options! Here’s just one snapshot. This one is under the “Cardio Dance” feature.
The workouts only require an internet connection, so you can do your routine when you’re traveling just as easily as from home. If you have an LG blu-ray player, you can access the workouts on your TV with the app! Now that is cool because I can do my workout in the living room or in my bedroom, depending on which TV is open!! And since I don’t have to locate and keep up with a DVD, it’s super simple. You can even watch the videos on an iPad. Workouts are added each week so that you can change things up and keep it interesting. So many users have complimented the classes and teachers that it’s hard to deny the convenience and likability of this program. So what did I think? My favorite category is dance. It’s easier to do the online workouts when I’m standing up, mostly because of the configurations of my rooms. The image quality is excellent, and I’m able to keep up with the instructor. Since I’m starting with the easy beginner classes I don’t break a sweat but I haven’t broken anything else either, so that’s a good thing. At under $10 a month, it’s a definite deal, especially since I’m more inclined to use it than I would a gym membership.
Interested in trying it out? Liking them on Facebook will get you a free download! Even if you just subscribe for one month, the current price is less than $5 so it’s not a huge investment for something you could really benefit from. You can also enter to win the Shaping Up for Spring giveaway (starts April 11) to win a 6-month membership! And once I get back into that swimsuit I’ll update you on my progress!
What do you think about doing an online workout versus a traditional gym membership or some other exercise plan (such as DVDs)?
Sounds like my kind of exercise! And you can do this at home with the kids! Great post!

Thanks for sharing I have about a month to be swimsuit ready, need to start now.
I am so uncoordinated I hate doing classes at the gym and usually just stick to the treadmill. I know I need to vary my routine and this would be a great solution for my uncoordinated self. No one would have to witness my workouts!

The cardio dance sounds like the most fun to me. Workouts on demands sounds right up my ally as I hate germy gyms.
