My kids are big gamers. Our family is fairly conservative, and I don’t usually allow the kids to play games that are rated Teen or above. The problem is that so many games have strong language, violence, mature content, and so on. Therefore, it’s a constant challenge to find games that appeal to the kids but don’t seem babyish. When I was invited to check out Hover : Revolt of Gamers, it seemed like it was the perfect game for my family!
Having taught middle school for 20 years, I can say that Parkour probably originated in a 6th grade hallway long before it became a Real Thing. Jumping around walls, buildings, and trees is a skill that draws kids of all ages! Hover plays on that interest with the additional draw of a brightly-colored futuristic city backdrop.
The object of the game? Help a group of rebels fight the dystopian government that’s trying to make “having fun” illegal.
The variety of playable characters keeps the game fresh, and the gameplay creates a constantly changing landscape of fun. Players choose a solo or multi-gamer platform, and can customize their characters with color and skills. It’s the type of game that will keep my kids interested for a long time! My son told me that he loves it and “it’s awesome!”
I would gift this to either my boyfriend or my best friend. They’re both big gamers and would love this!
