Home Ownership for Military Families

This post is brought to you by Navy Federal Credit Union. The opinions shared here are 100% mine.

Go ahead, call me an Army Brat.  I’m proud of the time that my father and stepdad served in the armed forces.   My dad was in the army (that’s how he met my mom in Okinawa!) and my stepdad served, too.   During my childhood, we bought groceries at the commissary and shopped at the PX.  My mom set up a savings account for me at the Fort Knox Federal Credit Union, which is an account I still use today.  My stepfather arranged for us to have USAA membership as well.  We’re very grateful for the benefits we’ve enjoyed through my family’s military service.   The military insurance helped me get my wisdom teeth taken out and paid for my acne cream.  If you’re a military family, you might wonder what kind of programs are available to help you purchase a home.  I’m excited that Navy Federal Credit Union asked me to share this information with you today.  I hope it helps you to take advantage of the savings to which military families have access.

The Military Home: A Household Unlike Any Other – An infographic by the team at Navy Federal

I hope that this infographic helps you to see the potential in your housing budget. Some military families are hesitant to settle down in one area because they’re unsure of what the future holds. While there’s a lot of merit to that sentiment, it’s also important to weigh in the benefits of home ownership.  Low rates, flexible credit consideration, and reduced fees are all excellent offers in today’s home-buying market.   If you’re a military family thinking about purchasing a home, check out your options at Navy Federal!

What crossed your mind as you read the infographic?  Would Navy Federal be able to help you get a home of your own?

  1. This sounds like a great place for military families to bank whether they are going to buy a home or not. “Credit Union” rates are always better then the traditional banks–I wish I could join one.

  8. What a wonderful way for Military Families to own a piece of the US. I wish every serviceman or servicewoman had the ability to own their own. It seems fitting for their sacrifices.

  9. Fantastic info. I think those that serve are entitled to all of these benefits for the sacrifices that are made – by the individual in the service and their family members. Thanks for sharing this important information about buying a house.

  10. Great info. My father proudly served in the Merchant Marines, and I have a son-in-law who has made the Army his career, and another son-in-law who served in the Air Force. One of my grand sons is considering the Marines as a career.

  11. It’s great that the VA can help with home ownership. I never knew all of this, but I’m sure my dad did. He served in the Army.

  12. It is so important for military families to have these programs.

  13. I live in San Antonio where just about every family we meet is military. It is great that there is a bank that helps families and understands the ups and downs of being in the military.

  14. Wow. There’s so many things that soldiers face that we civilians don’t think about. I know I just take it for granted that I have the freedom to put down roots with no worries.

  15. This is awesome information. My friend is engaged to an army man, and I know they would love any help possible for a home! It’s so important to support our troops and their families!

  16. This is a great program for service men and woman who certainly deserve any help in attaining their dreams of owning a home. I think the terms sound very appealing too.

  17. Very great service! Military families deserve this and soo much more.

  18. Loving all the fabulous options!!

  19. We are a military family too. And we actually just finished purchasing our first home with a VA loan. We are so grateful for this benefit as we wouldn’t have been able to get a home without it. Coming straight out of college with no income to a good paying job; we just didn’t have a down payment saved up. So we were able to get into a home without a down payment which was extremely helpful because our Mortgage payment is a LOT less than Rent would be in our area.

  20. Great information to pass along to military families! That’s awesome that military families can obtain such great benefits!

  25. I think military families should get tax breaks and purchasing a home advantages over some who is not in the military. Great info, glad to hear it!
