Hey, God? Yes, Charles. #giveaway at savingsinseconds.com

When I received a request to read Hey, God? Yes, Charles. I immediately jumped on the opportunity. The author, Becky Cooper, lives in Franklin, TN. I try to support “local” authors whenever I can! Additionally, the book is relevant to virtually every human. Whether it’s a spouse a child, a parent, or dear friend, we’re all at risk of having our hearts broken by loss. The main theme of the book is stated right in the prologue — “The connection with someone you love doesn’t cease with death.”   If your heart needs that message right now, or you know someone who is hurting from grief, consider reading Hey, God? Yes, Charles.

The book opens with an obituary.  When’s the last time you saw that in a book?!  From the page, it’s easy to see that Charles Cooper led a rich, full life.  He was surrounded by loved ones, devoted his time to church and charity, and had many outside interests that included football and travel.  These snippets of his personality are tenderly revealed in his conversations with God.  I loved God’s sense of humor!  An overwhelming sense of friendship and trust pour out of these pages, too.  Charles and his God were friends who were reunited in heaven.  In Becky’s notes, she realized that the conversations helped her to process her grief and move toward healing.    Another inspiring moment comes when reading the Amazon reviews of the book.  Becky’s book has already touched so many people who struggle with grief.  Comment after comment reveals the depth of pain these readers have suffered, and how Hey, God? Yes, Charles. helped to comfort that pain.  For those reasons, I chose this book to be the Best of 2015.
