#LoveHallmark makes great puzzles for adults - snow day #giveaway savingsinseconds.com

There comes a point in the snow day where everyone is too cold or tired to play outside.  That’s a great moment to pull out the puzzles and get to work!  The whole family can get involved, or the puzzle fun can be a quiet pastime to enjoy on your own.  Enter to win a puzzle of your choice in this giveaway!

Snow Day Puzzle Fun #LoveHallmark #giveaway at savingsinseconds.com Do you have a hard time getting your family into puzzles?  Here are some tips to make it a bit easier.

  1.  Ask your kids to pick a puzzle with a high-interest image or theme.  When we had the chance to select a puzzle from Hallmark’s collection, I asked my daughter to choose one for us.  She asked for Marina Dreams, which comes as no surprise because she loves water.
  2. Put all the pieces in one spot, and decide on a strategy before letting the kids loose.  I usually put all the pieces in the non-picture half of the puzzle box.   I also tell my children that they need to pick up any pieces that drop.  If you do have a missing piece, Hallmark has an email address that you can contact.
  3. Give each child a task.   For the smallest kids, have them pick out the pieces that are obviously border edges — easy to spot because of their straight side.  Have a big celebration when they find one of the corner pieces!   An older child can sort the pieces by color or patterns.
  4. Don’t stretch out the puzzle session.  If the kids get tired of working on the puzzle, take a break.  You don’t want this to be a burdensome activity.   They can return to it later in the day, or even on the next snow day.
  5. Once you have the pieces separated, put them in baggies or even a divided craft box. That way, all that sorting didn’t go to waste.
