January rolled around again, so you might be feeling compelled to make some resolutions.  This year, it seems all of my friends are making green resolutions.  This can mean a variety of things — from packing a lunch daily, to skipping fast food. One of my friends said that her husband uses the same spoon all day.  I’m not sure if I would do that, but I have a few tips that might help you stick to your green resolutions this year!

Even if you just chose one thing to change, you could make a huge impact on the environment!

  1.  Choose a resolution you can actually live with.  If you can commit to an entire year, great!  If you’re only going to be able to do something for a short period of time, though, it’s okay.  You can also try making a resolution that will only be enforced for part of the year.

For example, cloth diapers seem to be a big hit with Savings in Seconds readers!  If you can’t use cloth diapers ALL of the time, perhaps you could try using them on weekends only.

2.  Think about the little things that you’ll be doing anyway.  Is your calendar already booked out for years in advance?  Send digital cards this year to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, and Tuesdays.  You’ll save some time by scheduling these in advance, and you’ll also be making someone’s day!

3.  Try making a health-related resolution that’s pretty simple.  Get a cool new reusable water bottle from CafePress.  Its fun design might make you want to use it, and other people will notice your big statement on the front of the bottle.  All that positive energy might just be enough to keep you motivated on that resolution!

4.  Find a resolution that will save you money.  For example, all that money you saved by not buying paper cards? Save it to buy an amazing new DSLR.  Then you can store your pics online instead of having to print them off.  The Canon EOS Rebel T5i DSLR icon is on my list!
