One of the deepest desires of my heart = my children will know God loves them with an unconditional, eternal kind of love.   It’s a lesson I’m still learning myself, and I long to help my children understand it.  Even from a young age, children test the boundaries of love.  Have you seen it?  Perhaps you’ve experienced that, or maybe you’ve been the one to toe the line.  

Tommy Nelson recently published two sweet board books that highlight God’s love.  God Loves Mommy & Me and God Loves Daddy & Me are two separate books that reflect on similar ideas.  It’s no secret that moms and dads tend to have different parenting styles.  These books celebrate those differences.  Additionally, each book gently brings the focus back to God’s love.  The interactions between parent and child are described in such a way that it gives glory to God. By mentioning fun activities and tender moments, the books help children understand the way our lives can be a way to please God.

The illustrations are soft and sweet, with the text falling in different areas on the pages.  Most of the activities talk about outdoor adventures, which is nice.  I like that these are two separate books. It would have been easy to put them into one; however, that wouldn’t represent all families.  This way, parents may choose the book(s) that are the best fit for their family.
