Welcome to the Fool For Books giveaway event! This hop is hosted by I Am A Reader Not A Writer. April is a great time to pick up a new book and enjoy the sunshine. Sit outside in a lawn chair, grab a glass of lemonade, and enter these giveaways. Maybe you’ll win what will become your favorite new book!
In my giveaway, one lucky reader will win a copy of A Very Good Life. This debut novel from Lynn Steward is based in the 1970’s. Manhattan isn’t always friendly to up-and-coming women like Dana McGarry. The book reminded me a bit of the drama in Real Housewives or something; the behind-the-scenes pain that some women go through to have it all is just agonizing to watch. A Very Good Life is such a different world from my own. I’ve never been to NYC and my curvy figure would look alarmingly out of place in a prestigious department store like the one in which Dana works. Celebrities are not a routine acquaintance for me. That’s not necessarily a world I long to be in, but it’s a safe place to visit in a book. This novel is all about self-awareness and a woman’s willingness to bet upon herself.
Ready to enter? Head down to the Rafflecopter form below. Note that I will verify the winning entry; if your entry cannot be easily verified a new winner will be selected. The giveaway is open to US readers ages 18+. Void where prohibited by law. Good luck!

The year of this story takes place in 1974. I graduated high school in 1975. I would like to read this book of an era I can relate to.
It would be interesting to follow Dana’s story and what happens to her marriage, and when she realizes she has a Very Good Life, and it is about New York and we lived in Brooklyn in the early 60″s I think it will be a great read
The time period sounds interesting
The book sounds interesting. Very different from me…I never wanted to “have it all” or at least not “all” that we are supposed to want to have. I’m a country girl and never really wanted to do the city sort of thing.
You are right though…it is nice to visit in a book but don’t think I would want to live that life.
Also I did the retweet thing for you. @Elleberra
