Normally I’m not one to flash anything.  This weekend, though, I received the July BeautyBox5 and it contained a full-size tube of mascara (among other things, of course!)  Well, I ran to the bathroom to apply the mascara and got all excited because they looked longer than normal.   We settled in for a cozy #PotterHeadMarathon –which was awesome, by the way — and there was a commercial for this mascara!  I noticed the #FlashYourLash frame that also held a $1 coupon for Revlon’s new bold mascara in the box but hadn’t used it.  Fueled by the giddiness that comes from watching 8 Harry Potter movies in a row, I cut out the coupon and then decided to throw all caution to the wind; my lashes got flashed.

The box contained two other full size items; a Body Drench lip balm and a Starlooks lip liner. The Argan oil was a really creamy treatment that actually had two “servings” in it.  My daughter and I both used it.  It smelled ah-maz-ing and made our hair so soft!   Total value of this month’s BeautyBox5 was over $26, plus the $1 coupon.  Pretty sweet deal for a box that costs $12 per month.

We also went all crazy on pizza this weekend.  Have you ever tried grilling a pizza?  The new Jack’s pizza packaging suggests that they can be grilled, so what the hey?  We threw it on there!   It turned out pretty good, considering it was just a typical frozen pizza.  The nice thing about this option is that it’s a kid-friendly meal that can be prepared right alongside the hot dogs and burgers if you’re already doing a cookout.  It also is a good way to avoid heating up your house in the summer.  We try to avoid processed foods but sometimes there’s just no help for it.  A frozen pizza is on the menu.  In that case, this is one way to jazz it up.  You can add veggies and other cooked meats to the toppings if you want, too.  It must have been a hit because the after-picture turned out all blurry — my family kept trying to grab pieces while I photo’d it.   Grilled pizza was a success.

It was HOT this weekend (pushing in the 90’s) so the kids were eager to get in the pool.  I’m always a bit paranoid about summer skin.  My kids tend to break out in eczema spots due to sunscreen, pool chemicals, or maybe just getting the hairy eyeball from mom.  We love using natural sunscreens but it’s hard to find them in convenient applicators.  I’m not a fan of rubbing creams and oils on my kids because they get so impatient; I was glad to see that Babyganics also has a sunscreen stick.  This is perfect for the facial areas like the nose, cheeks, and even ears.   They’re non-allergenic and tear-free, so my kids don’t have a reaction to the formulas.  I love that these sunscreen products are not tested on animals.  Babyganics also had very little fragrance; in fact, I could not detect any smell at all from the stick.  This is an important detail for us!  The product is water-resistant for 80 minutes; we found that it was just the right amount of time for what we needed.

So as we wrap up the second half of July, we’ll probably head out into Fun Fest at least once this week.  We’re also planning a trip to Chuck E. Cheese and maybe even hit Dollywood one more time this summer.  Lots of fun to be had!

What’s up with you this week?

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

  11. The Beauty Box is amazing! How cool to get all that swag in one box! I love argan oil. You’d think that it would make fine hair limp and greasy, but if you don’t use too much, it adds shine and moisturizes.

  12. The Beauty Box. What could be better for a girl? Beauty products all wrapped up in a pretty package. Love it.

  13. Love the BabyGanics Sun screen! We wish we had a pool to hangout by!

Sounds like a great weekend. This week it’s just me and my toddler as my husband is out of town for work. I’m hoping the weather will be nice so we can spend some time outside! If it’s rainy, then we’ll be watching a lot of Disney movies 🙂

It was a great weekend for swimming, but you definitely needed sunscreen. I like that this was easy to apply and water resistant for 80 minutes. I haven’t tried Revlon mascara but will have to give it a shot. Have a great summer!

  31. I have never heard of BeautyBox but it sounds fun! I want to check it out 🙂

  32. I like most of Revlon products. I swear most companies only fill the containers part way. Mascara doesn’t last long at all and seldom causes my lashes to look as they proclaim

  34. Thanks for linking up to the Natural Living Monday and Healthy Meal Planning linkup! It’s so hard finding good sunscreen for the kids – I will have to try this one.
