A true friend is someone who shares books.
We are reading fiends at the Savings in Seconds house. We need more bookshelves before we get any more books, because our bookshelves overfloweth. From children’s books to novels to my favorite reads from college, I just have a hard time parting with a good book. I’m torn with the desire to share those good books with the world though. When I read a great book or series, I’ve got to share it with someone. Hence my “On My Bookshelf” posts……
One solution to our problem of having books fall out of the bookshelves was to get rid of some of the books get an ereader. Or two. We have both a Nook Color and a Kindle. I never thought I’d say it, but the ereaders really are great. When I’m pining for a really good book (or to re-read a book that I’ve loaned out to someone) I can just head to the computer and order it for my ereader. It saves me money, too, because I rarely walk out of a brick-and-mortar bookstore with only the book I went in to buy. Ereaders also have a green factor that appeals to me….no paper went into making those books. I love the fact that ereaders give me a chance to read the book immediately. For the silly days when I only bought the first book in an amazing series, I can order the rest when I realize my mistake and they’re immediately available. Oh, and the true friend can also share her books from her ereader! That’s right, the Kindle
lets you lend a book to a friend. My sister-in-law and I love to tell each other when there’s a good book available for a decent price for our ereaders. There’s never a lack of a good book around here, and we like it that way.
One of my students was reading Beautiful Creatures a few days ago and said it was an amazing book!! The movie looks fantastic and I’ll totally see it, but I really want to read the book first So thrilled that it’s $2.99 today on Kindle. Series books are my favorite, since I hate to see a good story end……the other Beautiful Creatures books
are also $2.99 or less for the Kindle versions.
Downloading. Done.
Read.
Some people prepare for a good movie by making room for popcorn. I prepare by reading the book.
Oh, and share it with a good friend.

My husband really wants a kindle! He is currently getting his Master’s and is reading a ton! I know an ereader would help him!

Amazon has them on sale fairly often…..we got our Kindle Fire for around $120 before Christmas. Just keep checking. It’s totally worth it!

Our family is also addicted to reading. And books were always like gold. Once we moved to ereaders, it is hard to ever go back. However, we did not buy our ereaders until our kids were old enough – one was learning to read and one is developmentally delayed. We would buy four books of the same thing OFTEN so we could all be reading the same book at the same time without having to pass the book around and lose our places. The kindles were a godsend. Buy one ebook and we can all read it at the same time. Better yet – download free ebooks!

I love my Kindle! I honestly could not live without it!
I am constantly downloading new books, apps, and steaming movies with my prime account for the kids!

I have heard so much about the Kindles. I still, to my chagrin, have not gotten a Kindle. I wish that some of my friends would upgrade and pass one to me. I have, due to unfortunate events, not been able to get one but I OH SO WANT ONE! I love to read, and it seems so much more convenient. I guess I’ll cross my fingers and hope that luck would let me win one that the sweepstakes are having. Thanks for your giveaways. They are so much fun
