Disposable dishwasher? savingsinseconds.com

Somehow we’ve killed yet another dishwasher.  When we bought this one a few years ago, we didn’t purchase the extended warranty.  Lesson learned; it didn’t last more than 3 or 4 years.  This is our third dishwasher in the 11 years that we’ve lived in this house. The first one quit working within a couple of months of living here.  We purchased 2 new ones, including the one pictured above.  I’m not particularly hard on the washers.  We do one load a day…sometimes two if we have company over for dinner. We don’t wash the dishes before putting them in because we specifically buy models that are supposed to have a food pulverizer (we have a garbage disposal).  It would seem that we’re buying disposable dishwashers, though, because we’ve gone through so many! So when this one started making REALLY loud jackhammer noises, my husband declared that it was time to buy another dishwasher.

He took our little boy shopping with him yesterday when they went to get the new one.   He said that there was a really expensive brand (Bosch?) on sale that he immediately liked.  The salesman tried to steer him away from it, but my husband wouldn’t be deterred.  Then he learned a nugget of information. According to his tale, the conversation went like this:

Salesman: You know about the no-drying thing, right?

Husband:  No.  What?

Salesman:  This model doesn’t have a drying unit. That’s why it lasts so long.

Husband:  What??

Salesman:  If your wife is the type that likes to dry the dishes right away so that they don’t get spots, then this is a great model for you.

Husband:  Um, no.  We will not be going with this one.

It’s nice to know that hubby knows me so well because I definitely wouldn’t have been drying those dishes.  They would drip dry for a couple of days if needed.  Now, what I want to know is, DO PEOPLE REALLY DO THAT???  People actually dry the dishes right out of the dishwasher because they want to?

If so, I’m at a whole new level of complete laziness.  To me, it’s worth every penny that the heating element costs.

Comments

  1. My dishwasher has the drying element, but I’ve only used it once or twice. I open the door a few inches when it’s done and let them air dry. Saves money.

Sure I dry them…haha…I open the door let the steam cover my face (free facial) and let them sit there and dry or put them away a little wet. Don’t you hate all this new technology that doesn’t last as long and actually ends up meaning more work for us. No thanks.
