I’m curious about other people’s shopping habits. I always wonder if other people think the way I do when it comes to deals or sales. Now, I don’t usually buy something just for the sake of using a coupon. If I am already planning a purchase, though, a coupon or deal can totally sway me to buy from that company. For example, Stella & Dot is offering their Laurel Stud Earrings for only $5 with any purchase of $100+! This offer is only valid 2/15 – 2/18. Now, I love Stella & Dot goodies and these laurel studs are totally cute. They are usually $19 so getting them for $5 is a huge deal. I’m always in the market for cute jewelry. I could easily spend $100 on awesome stuff at Stella & Dot and if my cart was even close to the limit, I would definitely buy enough to get these earrings for only $5. I like to save awesome deals like that for gifts that don’t cost a bundle but are really special. Plus my hubby fusses at me sometimes because I’m always buying things for other people, so I don’t feel as badly if I’ve only spent $5 (even if I spent $100 on other stuff. LOL). So if I wanted a new necklace, I’d shop Stella & Dot’s collection of trendy necklaces. I might browse the popular wrap bracelets, make a statement with a silver bangle, or slip on the perfect leather cuff. It’s super easy to update your wardrobe with some fun Stella & Dot pieces.
So tell me, would you add these in to an order? How would you use them—keep them for yourself or give them to someone special?

See that is one thing, if you’re looking to buy things anyway and then get a good deal for $5. I wouldn’t get them because my ears are super sensitive and I wouldn’t spend $5 on something I wouldn’t use.
It’s the people who go spending the $100 just to get the earrings for free or $5 that bug me. Like my mother. She’s a hoarder and anything that’s a good deal she will buy.
For instance, she will get a coupon in the mail that is save $10 when you spend $50 or $100 or whatever. She will purposely go out and spend that money just to save the little bit because it’s a good deal. Even though she doesn’t need anything.
I will use a $10 off $25 or FREE $10, but I have 2 growing children and I almost always get them stuff to grow into. So it’s excusable.

Totally with you on that. If I know I’m not in the market to buy anything, I pass on the deal no matter how great it is.
These are super cute! Our girls both have very sensitive ears but I would love to get them for myself!

I don’t normally ever spend that much on a retail/direct sales type of order, so no, I wouldn’t take advantage of this deal. They’re beautiful though!!!! If it were $5 with $50 purchase, then maybe, but only if I were already making an order of that much or almost that much.
For me, if I have to spend $100 and still spend $5 to get the earrings – it ain’t happening. I don’t typically do the “spend x amount and get x free” or “x for $x”. If I’m already shopping it and I get the extra as a bonus, cool, but I’m not going out of my way for something!

Spend $100 to get a discount on a single pair of earrings isn’t a deal UNLESS you were already spending $100 and really liked those earrings. Personally, the earrings pictured are not my style, so I would not spend the $5 on them even if I spend $100. A deal is only a deal when it actually saves you money, not when it costs more than you already planned to spend.

I would definitely add them in to an order — but only if I was already close enough to that total to make it worth it. I am very strict with myself about not spending more just to get a deal.
I’m with Heather M on this. My mom’s a hoarder, too. When I organized her jewelry last year after buying her a wall jewelry armoire, I counted over 300 pairs of earrings, over half of which I’ve never seen her wear. I’m the opposite, due to her example. The last time I bought myself a piece of jewelry, it was my wedding ring. I wouldn’t spend $100 just to save $15!
