Making holidays special is one of my favorite parts of parenthood. Easter frequently coincides with one of my kids’ birthdays (they are both April babies) so we always try to make it a fun spring outing. We live in the city and don’t get to play with farm animals too often, so we enjoyed making a spring visit to the petting zoo for our Easter celebration. There are a few ways to make this activity a bit more fun. Read on to find my best tips!
1. Dress the kids in comfortable clothing that’s still cute enough for pictures. While you might be tempted to put the kids in their paint shirts or something that’s deemed “play clothes” your pictures will tell on you. Think ahead to printable invitations and custom cards you might make this spring. Could you use your petting zoo photos on a grandparent’s birthday card with a “Somebunny Loves You” caption? Boden clothes are my favorite place to find really cute yet kid-friendly clothes for my son. Coupons.com has direct links to the sale section which often has clothing for less than I’d spend at a department store. If you find a full-price item you can’t live without (I wouldn’t blame you) be sure to check Coupons.com for a coupon code to use. In my experience, Boden tees wash and wear so well that they often look like new at the end of the season. There hasn’t been a stain yet that I couldn’t get out of a Mini Boden shirt.
2. Make sure your kids are wearing washable shoes. Crocs are an excellent choice. Throw them in the washing machine (or the dishwasher, in a pinch) for a quick clean. Through Coupons.com, you can get a super deal on Crocs. I found a coupon code for free shipping as well as awesome savings in the outlet section. Since Crocs can be worn through two sizes, you’re saving even more money by not buying shoes at every growth spurt. We’ve always passed on our Crocs to friends and family where they’ve lasted through at least one or two more kids!
3. By shopping the Easter deals at Coupons.com, you’ll save on the things you’re already buying. Sweet deal! Tuck that extra cash in your pocket. Most petting zoos sell animal feed at reasonable rates ($1 per cup or so). That’s such a fun part of the petting zoo experience; you won’t want your kids to miss out.

Good point on washable shoes. While you may have a special Easter dress and shoes picked out, it’s good to keep outings child friendly with comfy clothes and shoes.

My kids loved feeding the animals at petting zoos when they were growing up. Now, my grandkids can go and feed dolphins and other aquatic life…they live in Florida. 🙂
I would choose the JC Penney coupon since the one I saw is not limited to clothing, bedding, etc. It’s the coupon that reads 15 percent, 20 percent on $100, 25 percent on $200. I’m not sure what I would buy. If clothing something very Spring. Otherwise I just had to retire since my job was eliminated so I also would love a new wall clock or bedding. 🙂 Happy Easter.

I have already entered, but your children and the trip to the farm and with the bunnies and kid goats is so neat, and the fact that their birthdays are about the same time of the year is neat and during spring when weather is nice and not too hot, like July or August… Enjoyed this post. Two of my granddaughters show rabbits in rabbit shows and they are always telling me how they are graded and what must be done to show them. A lot of fun.
