There’s something magnificent about a life well led. Living in Tennessee doesn’t stop me from appreciating the success of Former Florida State University head coach Bobby Bowden. He is the winningest coach in NCAA Division 1 football history — such an accomplishment! Bowden’s newest endeavor is a tour for his new book, “The Wisdom of Faith,” written with Steve Bowden, that releases nationwide on Sept. 1, 2014, with the B&H Publishing Group. If you live in the Pensacola, FL area don’t miss this chance to attend the book signing! He’ll be at Family Christian store on Sept. 4 from 10 AM to 2 PM.
It takes a life of sacrifice to devote oneself to coaching. Bowden coached for over 7 decades! He guided Florida State University to more than 300 victories, two national championships, 12 Atlantic Coast Conference titles, finishing in the top five in the country in 14 straight seasons. Wow!! Additionally, he led the FSU Seminoles to bowl games in 28 consecutive seasons during his 34-year tenure. Bowden continues to be heavily involved in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, which is an organization found in schools across the country. Bowden was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2006. He and his wife of 65 years, Ann, live in Tallahassee, Fla. Bowden was recently in the national spotlight when a former Florida State University alum named his daughter Bowden. What a neat way to honor a coach who impacted so many lives!
