The Christmas Story in 40 Days #giveaway - savingsinseconds.com
Preparing for the Christmas season is often a whirlwind of activity. Decorating the tree, making meals, and wrapping gifts seem to dominate my time. This year, though, I’d like to prepare my heart first. Getting into the spirit of the season requires more than twinkling lights and pretty music. Instead, the days prior to Christmas will be blessed with prayer and meditation. I’m making an effort to focus on the real reason I celebrate the holiday, which is to draw closer to Jesus. The Christmas Story in 40 Days is an efficient alternative to the traditional advent calendar. Consider implementing it in your calendar this year!

My first impression of The Christmas Story in 40 Days was that “this book is small!” It’s a very slim paperback, especially when you consider that 40 days is a long time commitment to devote to one book. Author Chris Loehmer Kincaid was quite reasonable with the expectations of this devotional-style title. Each “day” takes up only two sparse pages, with much of the second page as notes. The daily messages cover common topics such as one’s family tree, decision to bear children, and miracles. Anyone can relate to this story, and that’s what makes it so perfect. I liked having this book well in advance of the holidays. It allowed me to focus on the coming Christmas season with a prayerful heart.
