When it comes to inspiration, my kids are at the top of my list.  They inspire me to be a better person, not just a better mom.   Protecting them is a top priority!  Though they don’t value it right now, I know their hearing is a precious gift.  It’s so critical that their little ears are kept safe and sound.  Thanks to SNUG Play+ headphones and Safe n Sound defenders, that precious sense of hearing will be preserved even throughout the loud-music days.  [Read more…]

STEAM activities – Nancy Drew Codes & Clues app #giveaway

Disclosure: I received a prize pack just like the one the giveaway winner will receive! Opinions shared are mine.

STEAM is one of the biggest buzzwords in education right now.  You might also see variations of this idea, such as STEM or STREAM.  This ideology  incorporates high-interest learning tasks with technology skills such as coding or investigating science concepts.  During the summer months, it can be a challenge to keep kids engaged in these activities.  Apps like Nancy Drew Codes & Clues are a good solution to the summer learning loss problem.

Little Fun Club book box — great way to make reading a summer activity

Little Fun Club blog tour. A subscription box for children's books. Great for kids ages 0-12.

At a reading conference I attended last fall, one of the presenters shared that children can lose up to 3 months of learning over the summer months. The cure, so to speak?  Keep them reading!  You realize how big of a challenge that is, though.  One way to make reading fun over the summer is to tie it in with “fun” mail.  The Little Fun Club book box contains just what you need.

Disclosure: I received this box in exchange for a review. Opinions shared are mine. [Read more…]

I’m a fan of Kristin Hannah’s contemporary work, but hadn’t read her titles of historical fiction before. When I received The Nightingale for free from SheSpeaks, it was in my purse from then on. Illuminated Texts made simple #MothersDayHop2017 #giveaway ends 5/6 –> Complete Guide to Bible Journaling

Disclosure: I received this book to feature; post contains affiliate links. Opinions shared are mine.

I hope you don’t think I’ve fallen off the face of the earth.  Things have just been so busy around here that I had to take a step back and make sure my family was taken care of.  The flu hit us a for a second round, then an ugly stomach bug was passed around.  My daughter had several school events going on around the same time, so she got bogged down with  makeup work from the classes she missed.  She ended up bringing home this art project for illuminated texts.  Thank goodness I had a review copy of The Complete Guide to Bible Journaling — it was put to good use!

Zenn Diagram by Wendy Brant review #giveaway ends 4/10

Disclosure: I received this book as part of the blog tour. Opinions shared are mine.

This book was for the little high school girl that still lives in a small section of my heart. The one who notices the cool moms in the mall, wants to wear blue mascara, and wishes she never let herself get fat.  What I’m also saying is,  Don’t think that Zenn Diagram is just for teens, because every one of us can relate to Eva.  [Read more…]

#TheGospelOfMark from @TheLumoProject #ad #RWM #giveaway ends 3/31

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post on behalf of Review Wire Media for The Lumo Project. I received information to facilitate my review as well as a promotional item to thank me for my participation.

Walk into our living room at 3 AM, and you’re likely to catch my husband watching a historical documentary.  The rest of us have caught the bug, too.   It makes history come alive in a way that books don’t always allow.  With the Lumo Project‘s Gospel DVDs, I feel a similar connection. The Gospel of Mark will be available at Walmart on March 14, and would be a wonderful gift for the history buff in your life. Tuck it in an Easter basket or gift it to your pastor. [Read more…]

In the 1990s, my cousin introduced me to Christian music.  He was obsessed with rap at the time, so DC Talk was his favorite.  I preferred Jars of Clay and Twila Paris.  Our preferences didn’t matter, though.  The important thing was the encouragement we received from the uplifting lyrics.  To this day, I find contemporary Christian music to be important part of my worship.  When my Laura Story “Open Hands” CD arrived, we listened to it on the way to school.  We have a long commute, so we were able to hear almost all of the songs during that drive!  [Read more…]
