If you enjoyed movies like Monuments Men or National Treasure, then pick up a copy of The Brothers’ Keepers.  Author NLB Horton has the readers going on a whirlwind adventure throughout European backroads and landmarks.  For a country girl like me, it was a bit overwhelming to keep up, but I did my best.  I loved the historical facts that were sprinkled in throughout this novel.  This is the second book in the Parched series; I highly recommend reading the first book (When Camels Fly) before picking up The Brothers’ Keepers.  I was lost for a good portion of the book and it wasn’t because I was sightseeing.

Did you ever read those choose-your-own-ending books when you were a kid?  That idea kept popping into my mind as I read this book.  Wonder what would have happened if they chose this instead of that?  There were a lot of details that went over my head because I got distracted through the telling.  It might have made more sense to me in movie form.  Still, the premise of The Brothers’ Keepers is very interesting and makes me consider reading the first book just to tie up the loose ends in my mind.

Don’t miss NLB Horton’s The Brothers’ Keepersinternational suspense at its best. While cataloguing looted antiquities in Brussels, archaeologist Grace Madison discovers her daughter has vanished in France, and her son’s bride has been attacked in Switzerland. After the Madison family unearths a relic whose taproot pierces the Ancient Near East, they realize before they can save themselves, they must rescue an old friend . . . if he’ll let them.
