Now that winter weather has hit full force here in Northeast Tennessee, going somewhere with sunshine sounds absolutely perfect.  Since I’m dreaming, I am not even going to stay within the US.  In fact, Australia is calling to me.  I’m dreaming of the spectacular waterfalls and seeing the Great Barrier Reef.  While the Appalachian Mountains are my home, I can just close my eyes and visualize the breathtaking coastlines of Australia.   There’s always the consideration of finding hotel accommodations in those wild and spellbinding areas, but I think I could manage.  After all, isn’t Australia known for offering hospitality to visitors?  I’ve always wanted to visit Australia since seeing the Olympics televised in 2000.  I remember thinking what a magical place Sydney must be.  Recently I saw an episode of Little People, Big World when they went Down Under.  I was so fascinated by their adventures while touring this amazing continent.  The historian and teacher in me wants to see the Aboriginal cave paintings, the unique rock art that is thousands of years old, preserved in the rocks.  And then there are the animals!  My children would also love to visit Australia, and I know the highlight of the trip for them would be seeing the wildlife.   So many things about Australia just intrigue me, and I hope to someday visit them all.
