Restaurant.com’s Secret Prize hunt

Restaurant.com has a fun promo—a scavenger hunt!  You can text the word JOY to #78166 to receive your special prize.   You must send the code by 12/25/12 to receive your prize.

I found the first and second clues this morning, and here’s clue #3:  Y

I love using Restaurant.com certificates to save on our eating-out meals.  Check it out and see if your favorite restaurant offers a certificate!

Tricities Tuesday: Restaurant.com has a new restaurant coupon available!

I love getting gift certificates on Restaurant.com because it’s such an easy way to save on eating out.  They are called “gift certificates” but really they are more like coupons.  The certificates usually have a minimum purchase amount, has exclusions, etc.  similar to a coupon.  Still, if you are looking for restaurant savings these are a great option.  Don’t forget to go through Shop At Home to buy your certificate to get even better savings!

I was excited to see that one of Johnson City’s new restaurants has certificates available.  Have you been to Salt N’ Pepper?  I haven’t been there yet but have heard that it’s really great.  Salt N’ Pepper features soul food, a great place to hit for fried chicken and mashed potatoes.  My friend visited and said the chicken & waffles was to die for.   I’m anxious to get down to Johnson City and try it out!

You can get a great deal on your Salt N’ Pepper meal by following these steps…it looks long but it’s so easy:

  1.  Click here to log-in at Shop At Home.
  2. Search for Restaurant.com and click “Shop Now.”
  3. Type in your zip code.
  4. If you’re in the Tricities, Salt N’ Pepper should show up on top.  There will be several other choices as well.
  5. Read the fine print.  How much will you spend on your meal?  If this is your first time using a Restaurant.com certificate, I recommend going with a smaller amount.  You can always go higher next time.   Note that the coupons are valid for dinner only (at least, the ones I saw).
  6. Add your certificate to your cart and checkout.  I usually checkout through Paypal.
  7.  When you’re ready to redeem your certificate, just log in to Restaurant.com and print it out.  Make sure to show it to the waitress before you order, so she can make a note that you are using the certificate.  Also be sure to order the minimum purchase amount.

That’s it!  You can get a $35 meal for around $20, and for even less than that if you go through Shop At Home!

Restaurant.com has other certificates available that we love, including Giovanni’s.  Ah, but that’s for another post, amicie mie

Salt N Pepper Soul Food — Johnson City, TN

It’s been a while since I shared a Tricities business with you.  Today I thought I’d show you one of the restaurants we visited last week.  I bought a gift certificate from Restaurant.com which gave us $25 off a $37.50 purchase.  We were in the area anyway so why not take advantage of the discount?

Ways to spice up summer days

Disclosure: I received product samples. The opinions shared here are 100% mine.

I can’t believe it’s already mid-June. It seems like I was just saying that last year and here it is again! The first month of summer break flew by. The kids are starting to get sick of each other around this time. It’s time to spice up summer days with some new experiences, don’t you think?

We’ve been eating out a lot this week since the air conditioner was out. I just couldn’t bear to cook in the kitchen for any length of time because it was so daggone hot in here! I’ve posted before about the joys of Restaurant.com but this week we had a huge need for dining-out savings since we darkened the doors of many air-conditioned restaurants. [Read more…]

Two Dads Cafe in Kingsport

We finally had a date night last summer—the first time in years.  This deal is making me want to repeat it.  The dinner part, at least!  We like going to local restaurants, and finding coupons online makes it so much more affordable. We enjoyed a wonderful meal at Battery in Johnson City for $25 by going through an online coupon site.  I loved going to this beautiful restaurant.  It’s located in the old train station (where the Farmer’s Market is) and makes you feel as though you’re stepping into a Charleston restaurant.  I got the seared scallops with scalloped potatoes and an appetizer of lobster fritters.  OH MY STARS, it was a meal for the gods!!  I didn’t take pictures because, you know, we were on a date.  The next time we visit I’ll be sure to share it with you!  [Read more…]

Tricities Tuesday: Tomy Thai in Johnson City

IMG-20121119-00308

I was really sad to see that Tomy Thai was leaving Kingsport.  I can only guess that the rent was too high or something, because the restaurant was always full when we visited.  It was one of our favorite places for a to-go meal.  LOOOOOVE their Thai Stir-fry—it is delish!!!   So I was super excited to see that they’ve relocated to Johnson City (1736 W State Of Franklin Road. in between ETSU and JCMC.)   If you’re in the mood for some super yummy Thai food, check it out.  I’m sure you’ll be pleased!
