Do people REALLY earn FREE gift cards?! savingsinseconds.com

The easy answer is — YES!   If you spend any time on the Internet and haven’t joined at least one search-to-win site, you are really missing out on some freebies.  I spend only a few minutes per day on the tips I’ve posted below and have earned gift cards which I use to buy Christmas for my family, give as gifts, or just “fun money” for me.  In my opinion, it’s not a way to make a regular dependable income but it’s a fun hobby and can be rewarding, literally!  I am a member of several sites and will be happy to answer any questions you might have.  Just click my link to join one (or all of them!) and get started earning your freebies today!

For each of these sites, you can “win” points by searching like you normally do on the internet.  [Read more…]

Buying Christmas Cards

Though the number of Christmas cards we received has dwindled, there are still a few holdouts who send one faithfully each year. To reciprocate the good cheer, I buy a few cards each year to keep on hand. Here are some of the ways I save money on Christmas cards (and I don’t buy them on December 26 to store them for the whole year.)

Ways to get free gift cards

Disclosure: This post contains affiliate and referral links. If you make a purchase, I may earn commission (at no extra cost to you!) Opinions shared are mine.

It used to be easy to earn free gift cards by doing surveys or collecting points through Swagbucks and MyPoints. These days, you can still find ways to get those freebies but it might take a little more creativity! I tend to hoard my gift cards in a little zippered pouch and use them when we’re trying to stick close to a budget. The treat is even more special when I’ve been limiting myself!

My husband is easy to please when it comes to gifts.  He appreciates having new socks, a blue tie, or a blue shirt.  Simple to do, right?  Sometimes, though, he mentions that he’d like to have this or that…and I love to surprise him with it on his birthday or Father’s Day!  Amazon makes it easy for me to give a great gift with very little stress.

I’ve always loved to play with fonts and lettering.  Before the days of computer imaging, I experimented with various markers and pens to get the results I wanted.  When Fox Chapel Publishing offered me a copy of Lettering Workshop for Crafters, it was a great opportunity to learn some new font styles!

Lesson planning is much more fun when I have colorful stickers and tabs to use.  It’s a splurge, but I also like to buy myself pens and washi tape to use at school.  The small things make my day brighter!   Right now, DaySpring is offering $20 off a $60 clearance purchase.  I stocked up!  These goodies will make wonderful stocking stuffers…if I can hold onto them that long.

Get ideas for teacher gifts + Free printable survey questionnaire

Disclosure: This post contains affiliate links. If you make a purchase, I may earn commission.  Opinions are mine, and the giveaway is self-sponsored.

With the busy back to school season, it can be difficult to get to know your child’s new teacher.  I’ve been lucky enough to personally know my children’s teachers since I’ve taught with them for years, so I knew that they liked certain items.  For example, the middle school teachers LOVED it when we gifted Chick-Fil-A calendars at Christmas!  This year, however, the teachers are new to me.  I created a quick printable to send to each teacher so that I’d have so that we’d have some gift ideas.  Download it here:  Teacher gift survey free printable

Make one-of-a-kind gifts with watercolor Brush Pen Illustrations

Disclosure: I received a free book to review. Opinions shared are mine. Post and giveaway form contain affiliate links; if you make a purchase, I may earn commission.

I’ve often admired how some artists can freehand a sketch and somehow form a recognizable image.  My doodling skills are seriously lacking; to hope for a better result with actual effort is pointless.  Brush Pen Illustration is just the type of book a beginner (like me) needs!
